This catalog represents just a small offering of what these artists had available for sale, and includes pieces from some of America's most popular cartoonists, like Tom Armstrong, Bil Keane, Mike Luckovich, and Walt Kelly. Lot #107 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Alarm Clock Prototype 1964 MB $100

Here's an ultra-rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1964, this is a MAD Magazine alarm clock. This clock features two (2) MAD logos and four (4) Alfred E. Neumans on the face, along with a 1964 copyright date. After I acquired this piece, I did some digging and discovered more items that had come from the estate of Jerry DeFuccio, of which several are appearing in this auction. Collected over the period of over fifty (50) years, this is a collection of memorabilia from the estate of the late MAD Magazine artist, Mr. Bob Clarke. Included in this collection is artwork, brochures, a signed document receipt, a couple of carbon prints, and some clipped newspaper cartoons. The large piece of art is a painting of his father, while the other two pieces were anniversary gifts to his wife. The newspaper cartoons are ones that he actually drew, for a strip called, "Over Here" - a post WWII carton (1946). All told, there are over 20 pieces of memorabilia. If you're fan of Bob Clarke, this lot is for you. From the collection of Bob Clarke.

Lot #125 - Sergio Aragones The World's Funniest Sports Puzzle 1980 Signed 2x MB $30

Here's a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1980 by International Polygonics LTD., this item is a 550-piece, double-sided sports puzzle. Called, "The World's Funniest Sports Puzzle", this puzzle was illustrated by MAD Magazine's Sergio Aragones. This puzzle is double-sided, and I can't even imagine the horror of trying to put it together. But, the beauty of this item is that it has been signed TWICE by Sergio Aragones. The first place he signed it is on top of the box lid, "To Mike & Linda! Aragones '84" The other spot he signed it is the inside of the box lid, where he also drew a self-portrait. This item is quite rare, as it does not even appear on the official Sergiography. And, it has been signed twice! For all of you Sergio fans out there, this is your Brass Ring. Go for it!

Lot #269 - MAD Magazine #521 / Game Of Thrones Issue w/ Withdrawn Fold-In RARE MB $50

Here's a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2013 by E.C. Publications, this is issue #521 of MAD Magazine. However, this particular issue is a rarity, as it contains a "controversial" Fold-In by Al Jaffee. The original Fold-In for this issue (as pictured) was replaced due to assumed sensitivity issues around the 2012 Aurora, Colorado theater shooting. However, some feel that it was pulled by DC to protect their brand, as the shooting occurred at a theater showing a midnight screening of the Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. Says the consignor, "These GoT Issues were recalled after DC management objected to the Fold-In's subject matter. An older Fold-In was substituted. But it was subsequently printed in an issue earlier this year (2019), indicating that the initial pulling of it was more a business/timing matter, rather than anything having to do with taste or sensitivity issues on management's part." In any event, a few of the pulled issues were saved, and this is one of them. It shows light handling and storage wear, and is in Excellent display condition. From the collection of an anonymous member of the UGOI.

But, in the wake immediately following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, it was thought that this cover was in bad taste. This piece is untrimmed, and features portions of the "rainbow" of primary colors at the bottom. It measures approx. 8 5/8" by 11 3/4" (folded), and is in Excellent display condition.
