SESSION ONE - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28 --- LOTS 1 THROUGH 50Lot #1. Completely MAD Paperback Boxed Set (Blue/Gold Version) - MB $30 This is a cool collection of MAD
Magazine paperback books. Published in the 1960's by Signet, this is
a boxed set of eight (8) different MAD Magazine pocket books. The
titles included in this set are: The Bedside MAD, Greasy MAD Stuff,
Like MAD, Three Ring MAD, The Ides Of MAD, The Self-Made MAD, The
Organization MAD, and The MAD Sampler. All of the books are original
to the box, and it appears that just one has been removed and enjoyed
(The Bedside MAD). The other books appear to have never been
opened. All of the books are later printings, but they are in
outstanding condition. The display box shows surface, corner and
edge wear, but is very displayable.
Lot #2. The MAD Morality / What, Me Moral? Promotional Pinback Button - MB $100 This is a super rare piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1970 by Signet Books, this is a
promotional pinback button from the MAD Magazine inspired book, The
MAD Morality. This button was produced without the consent of MAD
Magazine publisher Bill Gaines, and when he discovered the existence
of the buttons, he forced the publisher to destroy them. But, that
was after a small few were already given away. This is one of the
lucky survivors. Measuring approx. 1 1/2" in diameter, this
item is in Excellent display condition, with light rust stains on the
back, and a bent stick pin. A Mint condition example of this button
sold in one of my 1998 MAD Magazine auctions for over $2500! While I
don't see this going for that much, it certainly is worth far more
than the paltry $100 opening bid. Lot #3. MAD Magazine Office Premium Tote Bag (Blue Version) - MB $20 This is a rare MAD Magazine canvas
tote bag. This bag was made expressly for the artists, writers and
staff of MAD Magazine in the early 1990's, and is one of two (2)
different styles of bag produced. The other bag is black, and is
more taller than wider. The MAD logo is silk-screened on, and the
logo is nice and bright on each side. This particular bag was owned
by the late MAD Magazine artist Bob Clarke, and each side shows some
white paint drop stains. The bag is still solid and sturdy, but
could probably use a washing. Perhaps a good bath in a sink full of
Woolite would be best.
Lot #4. MAD Magazine Marbles - MB $5 This is a cool piece of "fantasy"
MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the 2000's, this item features
an unauthorized use of the face of Alfred E. Neuman, and the MAD
logo. This bag of marbles was created during the "create your
own collectible" craze of the early 2000's, and is one of the
better pieces of unauthorized MAD Magazine collectibles. The marbles
included in the package are simply some generic marbles, although it
would have been very cool to have the face of Alfred E. Neuman on
each marble. The header card is in Excellent display condition, and
is bright and colorful, with no fading.
Lot #5. 1980's MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Sweatshirt - MB $25 This is a MAD Magazine / Alfred E.
Neuman sweatshirt. Manufactured in the late 1980's by Sun
Sportswear, this long-sleeved sweatshirt features Alfred E. Neuman in
his classic pose on the front. It is an Adult size Extra-Large (XL),
and is unused. In fact, it still has the original K-Mart price tag
attached to the size label at the neck. There is a tiny dirt stain
near the neckline, but that is the only flaw. You will probably
never see another one of these in such a wonderful condition, so
don't miss out! Lot #6. MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Plastic Bookends Set (Gold Version) - MB $10 This is a set of the gold version of
MAD Magazine bookends. These bookends were originally
shrink-wrapped around a collection of MAD paperback books, and a
paper bookmark was also included. Using these bookmarks was a genius
idea by MAD to sell their unsold MAD paperbacks, as MAD could choose
any titles they wanted, instead of printing the titles on a box or
paper sleeve. This set of MAD bookends is known as the "Gold"
version, as the bookends are gold in color with blue printing. A
different colored "Red" set was also produced, and that set
had gold lettering. Also rumored to exist was a "Green"
set, but in my almost 30 years of collecting MAD Magazine
memorabilia, I have never seen any example of that set. This set
appears to be unused, and in Near Mint condition. Lot #7. MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Necktie - MB $10 This is a MAD Magazine / Alfred E.
Neuman necktie. Produced in 1992 by the Canadian company, Watson
Brothers, this necktie is just one of several MAD Magazine neckties
produced by Watson Brothers. This particular necktie borrows the
art from MAD Magazine #117, and features Alfred E. Neuman flying over
the goalpost while holding a football. This necktie is made with
100% silk, and appears to be unused. It is in Excellent display
condition. Lot #8. Pre-MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Matchbook - MB $15 This is a cool piece of pre-MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the 1930's or 1940's by the
Diamond Match Company, this item is a book of matches from Ralphs's
Buffet, a restaurant in Prescott, Arizona. But, the cool thing
about this book of matches is that it features an early, pre-MAD
image of MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman on the back. This book of
matches has been used, and about half of the matches are missing.
But, who really cares about how many matches are still in the book?
The image of Alfred is beautiful, and this is a really cool (and
really rare) piece of pre-MAD memorabilia. Lot #9. MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Pendant w/ Original Display Box - MB $15 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in 1993, this item is a MAD Magazine / Alfred
E. Neuman pendant. This item was sold exclusively in the once
popular Warner Brothers Studio Stores. In fact, this item was just
one piece of a treasure trove of MAD Magazine collectibles offered
for sale at the Warner Brothers stores. Other items included a denim
jacket, a sweatshirt, Dave Berg art plaques, cocktail napkins, a
puzzle, and many other items. This particular item is unused, and
still comes with its original display/storage box. And, the MAD
Magazine logo shows prominently on the box lid. Lot #10. MAD Magazine / Stanley DeSantis Catalog - Order Form - MB $10 This is a sales order form from
clothing manufacturer, Stanley DeSantis. Back in the early 1990's,
Stanley DeSantis produced a line of MAD Magazine t-shirts and hats.
There were several different styles of t-shirts, and different colors
for each style also were produced. There was only one style of hat
produced, and is featured a silk-screened image of Alfred E. Neuman
on the front. The book, Collectibly MAD, indicates that Stanley
DeSantis also produced a line of MAD Magazine sweatshirts, but I
have never come across one, nor does this order form show any options
for ordering a sweatshirt. This item is very cool, as it shows all
of the styles of MAD t-shirts that were offered for sale. Lot #11. Bill Gaines / Comic Book Legal Defense Fund T-Shirt - MB $10 This item is a cool t-shirt,
featuring the image of the founder of MAD Magazine, Mr. William M.
(Bill) Gaines. Mr. Gaines always fought against censorship, and his
feelings about free speech were very strong, particularly since his
popular line of comic books was eradicated by the Comics Code of the
1950's. This shirt was offered for sale at the Comic Book Legal
Defense Fund table at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con, and this
particular shirt is unused, and in Mint condition. It is an Adult
size XL.
Lot #12. The Highly Unlikely Celebrity Cookbook - Mort Drucker / Frank Jacobs - MB $10 This is an obscure MAD
Magazine-related paperback book. Published in 1964 by the New
American Library, this item is a First Printing of "The Highly
Unlikely Celebrity Cookbook". While not technically a MAD
Magazine book, this book was written by MAD Magazine writer, Frank
Jacobs, and illustrated by MAD Magazine artist, Mort Drucker. This
book showcases some of Mr. Druckers early caricature work, while the
humorous wit from the hand of Mr. Jacobs shines brightly. This book
is complete, and is in VG condition. It would grade higher, but
there is substantial edge and paper browning, along with some writing
on the front cover.
Lot #13. MAD Magazine / MAD TV Promotional T-Shirt - MB $20 This is a very rare piece of MAD TV
memorabilia. Produced in the mid-1990's, this item is a promotional
t-shirt from Michael Burnett Productions, the make-up and effects
artists for MAD TV. This shirt features an image of Alfred E.
Neuman on the back of the shirt, and the "What, MBP Worry?"
logo is located on the left breast on the front. This shirt is an
Adult size Extra Large (XL), and is unused, and in Mint condition. Lot #14. Fred Alan Novelty Company Advertising Poster w/ What- Me Worry? - MB $10 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in the 1950's, this item is an advertising
poster for the Fred Alan Novelty Company. What makes this item
special is that it borrows the popular "What - Me Worry?"
logo from MAD Magazine. Typically, other companies would borrow the
facial image of Alfred E. Neuman for use in their advertisements, and
MAD would always send a "cease and desist" notice to the
offending company. But, this was the first time that a company
borrowed the "What - Me Worry" saying. While the actual
words "What", "Me", and "Worry", are
not trademarked, those same words in that particular font style is.
And, that is what MAD got upset about. So, they sued the Fred Alan
Company, and ordered the remaining posters destroyed. This poster is
the actual poster MAD used in its litigations against the company,
and comes from the collection of the former Associate Editor of MAD
Magazine, Mr. Jerry DeFuccio. It measures approx. 7 1/2" by
17 1/2", and is in Excellent display condition. The picture of
Alfred E. Neuman (partially shown in the third picture) is used for
comparison only, and is not included. Lot #15. German MAD Magazine Record Album "Wie Es Tohnt & Stohnt" - MB $15 This is a cool piece of foreign MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1981 by RCA Victor, this is a
German MAD Magazine 33 1/3 rpm record album. Entitled, "Wie Es
Tohnt & Stohnt", the album title is loosely translated to
"As it Sounds And Moans", and contains such hits like,
"Bauernregel fur den August", "Kurzweil auf der
Autofahrt", "Diesmal fur Ochsen", and "Achtung
Autofahrer!". The outer sleeve of the album is in Excellent
display condition, with bright colors and no fading. The back of the
sleeve features color artwork by Don Martin.
Lot #16. Toxic Lunchbox Promotional T-Shirt w/ Alfred E. Neuman - MB $20 This item is a t-shirt featuring the
use of Alfred E. Neuman. Toxic Lunchbox was the Twitter account for
the website TALKSIK.com, the "Million Dollar Mouthpiece Kept For
The Hungry Individual". I am not sure what the connection is to
Alfred E. Neuman or MAD Magazine, but they borrowed Alfred's likeness
for their t-shirt. This shirt appears to be unused, and is in
Excellent display condition. Lot #17. 1928 Colorado College Yearbook w/ pre-MAD Images Of Alfred E. Neuman - MB $25 This is a very cool (and super rare)
piece of pre-MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1928 by
Colorado College, this item is the 1928 version of the "Pikes
Peak Nugget", their annual yearbook. While it is cool to look
at the pages of history, from classes and faculty, to sports and
activities, the real treasure of this book is the numerous
appearances of Alfred E. Neuman in the advertising section. This is
the earliest example known of an annual yearbook with images of
Alfred E. Neuman, and the pre-MAD images of Alfred appear over
fifteen (15) times! This item is complete, and is in decent display
condition, with edge, corner and spine wear.
Lot #18. 1960's The MAD Show "ECCH" Pinback Button - Happy Medium Theater - MB $20 This is a promotional pinback button
from the Chicago company of The MAD Show, a popular off-Broadway
smash hit musical. This particular button was produced as a giveaway
to theater-goers at the Happy Medium theater, where the Chicago
version of the MAD Show was being shown. One of the scenes from Act
One was called, "ECCCH", and this pinback was produced in
tribute to that scene. But, it was discovered that the word "ECCH"
was misspelled, and was missing a letter "C". Ultimately,
these pinbacks were disposed of after the discovery of the spelling
error, although a few were saved by a cast member. The cast member
was more than happy to consign one of her pinback buttons to my
auction.
Lot #19. MAD Magazine / "What - Me Thirsty?" T-shirt - MB $20 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in 1987 by CIA, this item is a MAD Magazine
t-shirt. The graphic on the shirt is taken from the cover art to MAD
Magazine issue #42, and features the head of Alfred E. Neuman as a
cork bottle topper. This t-shirt is in Excellent display condition,
with bright colors and no fading. It is an Adult size Medium, and is
made from a thinner, more lightweight fabric. Lot #20.
This particular necktie borrows the
art from MAD Magazine #308, and features Alfred E. Neuman holding a
TV camera. This necktie is made with 100% silk, and appears to be
unused. It is in Excellent display condition. Lot #21. MAD Magazine Paperback Book Original Art Page / Jack Davis Art - MB $50 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
original art. Produced in 1970 by MAD Magazine artist, Jack Davis,
this is a page of original art from "The Return Of A MAD Look At
Old Movies" paperback book. This page of art comes from the
story, "Life Dinghy", and is page 6 from that story. It
is also numbered page 40 from the book. Due to the recent passing of
Mr. Davis, his original art has seen an increase in prices. While
certainly not as desirable as the original cover art to a TV Guide,
or the cover art to a Six Fat Dutchmen record album, this art
certainly shows the skills and abilities of one of America's most
popular comic artists and illustrators. Measuring approx. 11"
by 14", this art is in Excellent display condition. Lot #22. A Certifiably MAD Collection Paperback Boxed Set - Green Version - MB This is a cool collection of MAD
Magazine paperback books. Published in the 1970's by Warner Books,
this is a boxed set of five (5) different MAD Magazine pocket books.
The titles included in this set are: A MAD Guide To Leisure Time, Al
Jaffee's MAD Book Of Magic And Other Dirty Tricks, Good n' MAD,
Steaming MAD, and MADs Dave Berg Looks At Things. All of the books
are original to the box, and it appears that the books have been
opened just once or twice. All of the books are later printings,
but they are in outstanding condition. The display box shows
surface, corner and edge wear, but is very displayable. Lot #23. 2015 MAD Magazine / Special "Loot Crate" Edition - Factory Sealed - MB $5 This is a special, limited edition
of MAD Magazine. Published in 2015 by E.C. Publications, this item
is the special "Loot Crate" edition of MAD. These item was

"geek and gaming gear" club. Every month, members receive
a box of comic and gaming related items, with each box pertaining to

opened an extra edition just for you, just to show you the Table Of
Contents.
Lot #24. Bob Clarke & Bill Gaines As Santa Claus - Original Color Picture - MB $15 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine

holding up his Christmas wish list. Measuring approx. 3" by 5",
this photo is in Excellent display condition, with bright colors and
no fading. From the collection of Bob Clarke. Lot #25. MAD Magazine Subscription Premium Print - Soul Of MAD Collection - MB $25 This is a cool MAD Magazine
subscription premium. Produced in 2015, this item is a signed and
numbered print of the cover to MAD Magazine issue #94, the Alfred E.
Neuman as King Kong cover. This item is in Near Mint condition, and
this lot also contains the original "Thank You" letter from
MAD, along with the original cardboard mailer (with the Alfred E.
Neuman return address stamp). This print is numbered 307/1000, and
is ready to hang.
Lot #26. MAD - The Animated TV Series / Promotional 100th Episode T-Shirt - MB $20 This is a cool MAD Magazine t-shirt.

by the popular MAD Magazine cartoonist, Mr. Sergio Aragones.

in wrinkled Mint condition. Lot #27. Picture Week Magazine / August 27, 1955 Edition - w/ MAD Magazine Article - MB $5 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Published in 1955 by Picture Week Inc., this is the
August 27, 1955 edition of Picture Week. Of special interest to MAD
Magazine memorabilia collectors is a six-page article on the MAD
Magazine phenomenon. The article features artwork by MAD Magazine
artists, Jack Davis and Will Elder, and this particular issue appears
to be unread, and in Mint condition. Lot #28. MAD TV Emmy Consideration VHS Videotape - MB $5 This is a unique piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the early 2000's by the FOX
Network, this item is an Emmy award consideration VHS videotape.
This tape contains a few select comedy sketches from the hit FOX TV
comedy show, MAD TV. The sketches contained on this tape were
nominated in the "Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series"
and "Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series"

has been gently used, and the cardboard sleeve shows light wear. It
is in Excellent display condition. Lot #29. MAD Magazine / Up The Academy Original Movie Press Kit w/ Original Envelope - MB $30 This item comes from the movie, Up

Brothers, this item is a complete movie press kit, and contains a
selection of black & white still photos, printed biographies of
the cast and crew, and a brief recapitulation of the movie. All of
the items are contained in a glossy paper folder, and the complete
kit is then contained in the original white paper envelope. This is
one of the rarest UP The Academy pieces to find, especially because
of the existence of the original mailing envelope, and a complete
collection of the movie still photos. Lot #30. MAD Magazine Promotional Football Helmet Logo Cloisonne Pin - MB $5 This is a cool MAD Magazine
promotional cloisonne pin. This pin was made by the same company
that made the MAD Subscription premium pins from the early 1990's.
This football helmet pin was never offered for sale by MAD, and was
used as a office giveaway premium. This example is still factory
sealed, and in presumed Mint condition. Lot #31. Dick DeBartolo / The Match Game - Original Question Cards - Signed - MB $10 This a cool piece of MAD Magazine/
Dick DeBartolo memorabilia. Produced in the 1970's, this is a
collection of original question cards used on the popular 1970's TV
game show, The Match Game. These cards are from the personal
collection of Mr. DeBartolo, who saved them from the dumpster that
was parked outside of the Mark Goodson / Bill Todman offices in New
York. This lot includes three (3) different question cards, a signed
letter from Mr. DeBartolo explaining the premise of the Match Game
and the history of the cards, a sheet of "Match Game PM"

Neuman, and the words "What - Me Worry" on one side, and
the MAD TV logo on the other, this mug has been gently used, and is
in Excellent display condition. The red color in the MAD logo has
faded just a bit, however. This mug is one of the most difficult
pieces of MAD TV memorabilia to find, so don't miss out! Lot #33. 1980's MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Water Decal - MB $5 This is an Alfred E. Neuman water

t-shirt shows the Black Spy on the front, and the White Spy on the
back. It is an Adult size Large, and is in Excellent display
condition. The Sun Sportswear neck tag is still attached as well.
This version of the Spy vs. Spy t-shirt does not appear in
Collectibly MAD, but it is as equally rare as all of the other MAD
Magazine t-shirts manufactured by Sun Sportswear. Lot #35. MAD Magazine / George Woodbridge - MAD Trip To Germany Original Photo - MB $25 This is a cool piece of memorabilia
from one of the historic MAD Trips abroad. This photo is from the

photographer's mailing address and telephone number. From the
personal collection of the late MAD Magazine artist, George
Woodbridge. Lot #36. MAD Magazine / Squirt Toy Fire Extinguisher - Unopened - MB $10 This is a MAD Magazine squirt toy.

different squirt toys in the set, and this is the fire extinguisher
version. Other squirt toys in the set include: a camera, a stapler,
a pack of gum, a headset, a calculator, a pen and pencil, and a

this letter is a "Thank You For Joining The Alfred E. Neuman Fan
Club" letter. Although I do not understand all of the Swedish

letter is very cool, and very RARE! On the bottom, this letter
features the printed signature of the first editor of the Swedish MAD

MAD Magazine writer, Frank Jacobs, and pictorially illustrated by MAD

selected black & white pictures (chosen by Nick Meglin), with
humorous captions written by Frank Jacobs. This book is complete,

Lot #44.
This particular necktie showcases art
by the late MAD Magazine artist, Jack Davis, where Alfred E. Neuman
is measuring his putt on a mini golf course. I do not recall this
art ever being on the cover of a MAD Magazine, but I could be wrong.
This necktie is made with 100% silk, and appears to be unused. It is
in Excellent display condition. Lot #45 Bob Adamcik's Cafe Oversize Feature Matchbook w/ Pre-MAD Alfred E. Neuman - MB $5 This is a cool piece of pre-MAD

Adamcik's Cafe out of Schulenburg, Texas. This item is special,
however, as the back of the matchbook shows a pre-MAD Magazine image
of Alfred E. Neuman. This matchbook has only seen the light of day
just a few times, and it is unused, and in Near Mint condition. This
just might be the best conditioned Bob Adamcik's matchbook that I
have ever seen. It is beautiful! Lot #46 MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Keychain Subscription Premium - MB $5 This is a MAD Magazine subscription
premium. Produced in 1999 for E.C. Publications, this item was

3/4" by 2 3/4". Lot #47. 1974 MAN Record Album w/ Alfred E. Neuman Face & MAD Magazine Logo Swipe - MB $10 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in 1974 by United Artists Music & Records
Group Inc., this is a 33 1/3 rpm record album by the rock group, MAN.
This album cover is important to MAD Magazine memorabilia
collectors, as the group borrowed the MAD Magazine logo font for
their name on the album sleeve, and also used the mouth (pictured) of
Alfred E. Neuman on the album cover. This final version was
originally the group's second choice for the album cover. The first
choice was a complete face and body of Alfred E. Neuman, a choice
that was emphatically denied by MAD's lawyers. This album cover is
in decent display condition, with surface, corner and edge wear.

cover. The record has some fingerprints and such, but appears to be
playable. Lot #48. "I Went MAD at Artspace" Promotional Refrigerator Magnet - MB $5 This is a promotional refrigerator

The end of the tour ended up in Columbus, Ohio, where his collection

magnet is in decent display condition with surface, corner and edge
wear. Lot #49. 2015 DAB Bandana/Neckerchief w/ Alfred E. Neuman & MAD Magazine Logo Swipe - MB $5 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in 2015 by Tans Club, this item is a bandana /
neckerchief promoting Phase Two of DAB. DAB stands for Digital
Audio Broadcasting, and a Phase Two expansion occurred in the United
Kingdom in 2015. I am not sure of the connection between DAB and MAD
Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman, but perhaps it is the "What - Me
Worry" angle. Who knows? This item measures approx. 14"
by 14", and is unused and in folded Mint condition. Lot #50 MAD Magazine / Al Feldstein Signed Note Card Autograph - MB $10 This is a 3" by 5" note

Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the 1930's or 1940's by Acacia
Distributing Inc., this item is a matchbook cover from Baker's
Beanery, a coffee shop in Fairview, Oregon. But, the cool thing
about this matchbook cover is that it features an early, pre-MAD
image of MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman on the back. The matches
have been all used up, so there are no matches left in this book.
The image of Alfred is beautiful, and this is a really cool (and
really rare) piece of pre-MAD memorabilia. Lot #59. Set Of Two (2) Promotional Photos From MAD TV - German - MB $5 This is a cool lot of foreign MAD

and 10th at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art in New York City.
MAD Magazine's Al Jaffee was the annual Klein Award recipient, and
MAD Magazine artist, Peter Kuper, designed the cover art for the
official program, which was then used for a poster and t-shirt. This
particular t-shirt is from the collection of Peter Kuper, and he has
signed his last name on the neck tag. This shirt is a Women's size
Medium, and is in Excellent display condition, with a light 3/4"

artwork by Hermann Mejia, Tom Richmond, Tomas Bunk, and Drew
Friedman, among others. This issue was included in several national
periodicals in the Spring of 2008. This particular issue is in Near
Mint condition, with light handling wear.
Lot #64. MAD Magazine Artist / Bob Clarke Original B&W Photograph - MB $10 This is a cool piece of memorabilia
from one of the Usual Gang Of Idiots. Produced in the 1980's, this

held on August 30, 1992 at the Holiday Inn in Tampa, Florida. Among
the featured guests of the show was none other than MAD Magazine's
Don "Duck" Edwing. This poster also features Alfred E.

this item is in Excellent display condition, with a light vertical
crease down the center. Lot #66. MAD Magazine Original Letters Page Photo (Unused) - Robert Mitchum - MB $15 This is a super rare piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1963, this is a black & white
photo that features movie stars Robert Mitchum and Richard Harris.
This photo was originally sent to MAD Magazine to be used in their
"Celebrity Snaps" section in the Letters Page. But, the
photo never was used. The photo shows Mr. Mitchum and Mr. Harris
talking, while another man shows Mr. Harris the "Mutiny on the
Bouncy" movie parody in MAD Magazine #80. Measuring approx. 8"
by 10", this item is in Excellent display condition. Lot #67. MAD Magazine / Lenny Brenner - Original Handwritten & Signed Letter - MB $20 This is a super rare piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the late 1970's, this item is a
handwritten letter sent from the MAD Magazine Art Director, Lenny
Brenner, to the MAD Magazine artist, Don "Duck" Edwing.
The letter was included with a packet of reductions prints, with
instructions to "Call Al and he will explain what he wants".
The signature on this letter is quite rare, as Mr. Brenner rarely
signed his name. He either used one of two different stamps (both of
which was a facial likeness), or, in the case he did have to sign his
name, he always wrote it using his full first name, Leonard. This
letter measures approx. 8 1/2" by 11", and is in Excellent
display condition, with a tiny bit of damage on the lower left edge
of the sheet. Lot #68. MAD Magazine / Usual Gang Of Idiots T-Shirt MB $15 This is a rare MAD Magazine t-shirt.

Excellent display condition. XL. Lot #69. 1984 Alfred E. Neuman For President Campaign Kit T-Shirt - Blue Ringer Version MB $25 This is a cool Alfred E. Neuman for
President collectible. Produced in 1984 for E.C Publications, this
item is the "blue ringer" version of the Alfred E. Neuman
for President t-shirt. The 1984 Alfred E. Neuman for President
campaign kit was not technically a MAD Magazine created item. It
was merely a group of people who came up with the idea, and MAD
Magazine endorsed them in their Letters Pages. There was also a
bumper sticker produced for this kit, which is rarer than the
t-shirt. This shirt has been worn, but is in Very Good display
condition. It is an Adult size Medium. Lot #70. MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman / Certified MAD T-Shirt MB $10 This is a MAD Magazine / Alfred
E.Neuman t-shirt. This shirt is a newer item, and shows the
Certified MAD logo on the inside back of the neck. The t-shirt is
an Adult size Medium, and appears to be unused, and in wrinkled Mint
condition. Lot #71. Pre-MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Pinback Button - Superior 1941 MB $25 This is a cool piece of pre-MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1941, this pinback button features
a wonderful pre-MAD image of MAD Magazine's cover boy, Alfred E.
Neuman. Measuring approx. 1 1/2" in diameter, this item is in
Excellent display condition, with some rust staining on the back. Lot #72. MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Novelty Drivers License MB $5 This is an Alfred E. Neuman novelty
drivers license. Produced in 2000, this item was not really a
licensed piece of MAD Magazine merchandise. Rather, it was made
during the "make your own collectibles" boom of the early
2000's. In any event, this item measures approx. 2 1/8" by 3
3/8", and is in Excellent display condition. Lot #73.
This particular necktie borrows the
art from MAD Magazine #296, and features Alfred E. Neuman umpiring a
baseball game. This necktie is made with 100% silk, and appears to
be unused. It is in Excellent display condition. Lot #74 1989 MAD Magazine Wall Calendar MB $5 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in 1988 by Landmark General Corp., this item
is a MAD Magazine 12-month wall calendar. Each month features a
different classic MAD Magazine cover, and some of the days of each
month feature some MAD Marginal artwork by Sergio Aragones. This
calendar is unused, and in Near Mint condition, with light wear near
the spine, and a lightly curled corner on the back cover. Lot #75. British MAD Magazine / Up The Academy - Studio Record Album - MB $5 This is a cool piece of foreign MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1980 by Capitol / EMI Records,
this is the original motion picture soundtrack to the 1980 box office
flop, Up The Academy. This movie was original endorsed by MAD
Magazine, but after the many poor reviews of the film, Bill Gaines
fought to have any reference to MAD Magazine removed from any
advertising for the film. It appeared that he was too late for the
record album, but there was a solution. There was a sticker printed,
and placed over the "MAD Magazine Presents" at the top of
the record album sleeve. If you peeled the sticker off, you would
see the actual MAD Magazine logo underneath. The record cover is in
Excellent display condition, while the record itself appears to have
never been played. Lot #76. The MAD Guide To The Sweet & Sour Life - MAD Magazine Mini Issue - MB $10 This is a cool promotional issue of
MAD Magazine. Published in 2002 by E.C. Publications, this is the
"MAD Guide To The Sweet & Sour Life" special issue of
MAD Magazine. This issue features artwork by Tomas Bunk, Sergio
Aragones, Mark Fredrickson, John Caldwell and Kevin Pope, and even
includes a special back page Fold-In by Al Jaffee. This issue was
included in several national periodicals in the Spring of 2002.
This particular issue is unused, and in Mint condition.
Lot #77. Collection Of Comic Con Flyers From 1973 w/ Bill Gaines - Phil Seuling MB $10 This is a collection of comic
convention flyers from 1973. Included in this collection is a flyer
from the 1973 New York Comic Art Convention, where Bill Gaines and
the Usual Gang Of Idiots were scheduled to appear. Also included is
a flyer from D-Con 1973, where Harlan Ellison, Burne Hogarth, and
Bill Gaines made guest appearances. Finally, there is a flyer from
LunaCon '73, where Harlan Ellison was the featured guest. Also
included is a "Dealers Mailing" that was handwritten (then
copied) by Phil Seuling. All of the items are housed in the original
manila envelope from Phil Seuling, which is postmarked April 3, 1973.
All of the item s are in Excellent display condition. Lot #78. 1994 MAD Magazine Readership Survey Replay Card w/Alfred E. Neuman Pin MB $10 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in 1994 for E.C. Publications, this item is a
reply card to the 1994 MAD Magazine readership survey. This survey
was stapled into MAD Magazine #326, and it was up to the reader to
detach it, fill it out, and send it in. The response was
overwhelming, and far surpassed any expectations that the MAD
Editorial Staff had. In fact, to find an issue of MAD Magazine #326
with the survey intact is quite a rarity. Also included in the
Alfred E. Neuman cloisonne pin that was given to each survey
respondent. It is unused, and in Mint condition. The reply cards
shows a few marks where the pin was placed next to it. Lot #79 Alfred E. Neuman / George W. Bush "Hail To The Thief" Pinback Button MB $5 This is a pinback button, featuring
the combined faces of Alfred E. Neuman and President George W. Bush.
There is not copyright date on the pin, nor is there a manufacturer
listed. But, it is kind of a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia.
It even borrows a bit of Alfred E. Neuman's "What - Me Worry"
slogan. Measuring approx. 1 1/4" in diameter, this item has
been gently used, and is in Excellent display condition.
Lot #80 MAD Magazine / Alfred E Neuman / Spy vs Spy Action Figure Set w/ Rare Special Issue MB $50 This is a super cool collection of
MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 2002 by DC Direct, this is a
boxed set containing an Alfred E. Neuman action figure, plus the
Black and White Spy action figures. But the most valuable item in
this boxed set isn't any of the action figures. It is the "50
Years Of Stupidity" special edition of MAD that is included in
the back of the box. For some reason, that is the hardest MAD
Magazine special edition issue to find. Maybe it's because of poor
distribution. Maybe it's because nobody wants to break up their
set, or even open the box up. In any event, this box has it. This
set is unopened, and it is assumed the contents are in Mint
condition. The box shows alot of handling wear. Lot #81 Set Of Two (2) Different Plastic Vacuform Postcards w/ Alfred E. Neuman MB $10 This is a cool lot of Alfred E.
Neuman memorabila. Produced in the late 1950's by Eden Plastics and
Cardel Plastics, this lot contains two (2) different plastic vacuform
postcards that feature the face of MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman on
them. Each card measures approx. 4" by 6 1/4", and both
are in Excellent display condition. The brown "Misteaks"
postcard does show some paper loss on the back. Lot #82. MAD Magazine / Up The Academy Printers Proof Poster MB $5 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in 1980 by Warner Brothers, this item is a
printers proof of the original movie poster for the 1980 box office
flop, Up The Academy. Measuring approx. 17" by 22", this
item is in Excellent display condition, with light surface and
handling wear. Lot #83 1960's MAD Binder Vinyl Cover w/ Alfred E. Neuman MB $5 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in the early 1960's by Standard Plastic
Products (SPP), this is the vinyl top cover for a school binder. The
company, SPP, made about five or six different school binders with
the word "MAD" on the cover, and at least three (3) of them
also included a likeness of Alfred E. Neuman on them. The Alfred E.
Neuman likeness on this piece of vinyl has been colored out by green
paint or marker. But, it is an example of a very hard to find piece
of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. This item is in OK display
condition, and might look best hanging in a frame on your wall.
Please remember: this is not a full binder. It is just the top
vinyl cover. Lot #84 1994 German Yearbook w/ MAD Magazine Cover Logo Rip-Off MB $5 This is a cool piece of foreign MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1994 by Druckerei Klein, this
item appears to be a college yearbook of some sort. I know a limited
amount of the German language, and that is about all that I can
muster. Of interest to MAD Magazine collectors is the MAD Magazine
logo swipe on the front cover, along with the "Die vernunftigste
Abizeitung der Welt" swipe as well. This book is in Excellent
display condition.
Lot #85 MAD Magazine / Original 1966 Newspaper Photo MB $10 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Published in 1966, this item is a black & white
newspaper photo that was used in a newspaper dated May 2, 1966. This
picture reprints the cover to MAD Magazine #101, and was used for an
article about the popular off-Broadway hit, The MAD Show. Measuring
approx, 6" by 10", this picture is in Excellent display
condition, with pencil and ink writing on the back, along with a tiny
newspaper clipping. Lot #86 MAD Magazine / Original 1969 Newspaper Photo MB $10 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Published in 1969 by the Bowling Green State
University, this item is a black & white newspaper photo that was
used in one of their school publications dated August 12, 1969. This
picture reprints the cover to MAD Magazine #24, and it measures
approx. 8 1/4" by 10". This picture is in Excellent
display condition, with pencil and ink writing on the back. Lot #87. MAD Magazine / MAD TV Press Kit w/ Original Envelope - MB $30 This item comes from the FOX
Networks smash comedy hit, MAD TV. Printed in 1995 by FOX Publicity,
this item is a complete MAD TV press kit, and contains a selection of
black & white still photos, printed biographies of the cast and
crew, and a brief summary of the general content of the show. All of
the items are contained in a glossy paper folder (featuring Alfred E.
Neuman in a straightjacket), and the complete kit is then contained
in the original white paper envelope. This is one of the rarest MAD
TV pieces to find, especially because of the existence of the
original mailing envelope. Lot #88. 1960's Alfred E. Neuman Plastic Gumball Charm In Original Plastic Capsule MB $5 This is a cool piece of Alfred E.
Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the 1960's, this is an original
1960's Alfred E. Neuman gumball machine charm. The cast for this
item was taken from an original piece of 1950's MAD Magazine / Alfred
E. Neuman jewelry. The eyes were hollowed out, and the recast piece
became smaller. This item is unused, and in Near Mint condition.
The capsule does show some light wear to it, but it is complete. Lot #89. MAD Magazine / MAD TV Cast & Crew T-Shirt - White Version - MB $10 This is a cool piece of MAD TV
memorabilia. Produced in the 2000's for QDE & The Fox Network,
this item is a MAD TV t-shirt. This t-shirt was made for the cast
and crew of MAD TV, and features an embroidered MAD TV logo on the
left breast. This t-shirt is an Adult size Large, and appears to
have been worn just once or twice. This t-shirt is in Excellent
display condition. Lot #90 MAD Magazine / Jerry DeFuccio Signed Letter Golden Age Comics Sale MB $15 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Typewritten on November 29, 1967, this item is a letter
send from the late MAD Magazine associate editor, Jerry DeFuccio, to
a comic book collector named Warren. The letter basically is an
offer of $2 each for thirty (30) Golden Age comic books, including
Action Comics #24-49. Now, that's the Steal Of The Century, if you
ask me. How ironic that I use the word "steal" when
describing this letter. Only a few of you will know what I mean.
Anyway, this letter has been signed "Jerry" in the lower
right hand corner. Measuring approx. 7 1/4" by 10 1/2",
this letter is in Excellent display condition. Lot #91. 1980's MAD Magazine / Usual Gang Of Idiots Caricatures Drawn By Bob Clarke MB $25 This is a cool collection of
portraits of MAD Magazine's Usual Gang Of Idiots. Drawn by MAD
Magazine artist, Bob Clarke, this is a collection of caricatures
drawn by Mr. Clarke during the MAD Trip to Switzerland (I think) in
the late 1980's. Included in these portraits are: Bill and Annie
Gaines, John Ficarra, Angelo Torres, Dave Berg, Charlie Kadau, Jack
Davis, Dorothy Crouch, Lenny Brenner, Paul Coker, Sergio Aragones,
"Duck" Edwing, PP Porges, and Harry North. Mr. Clarke had
his portrait drawn first, by Jack Davis. There are two (2) sheets
total in this lot, and both measure approx. 9" by 12".
They are both in Excellent display condition. Lot #92. 1950's Greasy Kid Stuff Lotion Bottle w/ Alfred E. Neuman On The Label MB $10 This is a cool piece of Alfred E.
Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the 1950's by D&S Enterprises
out of Edmond, Washington, this item is a bottle of creamy hair tonic
/ lotion. But was makes this item a treasure is the appearance of
Alfred E. Neuman on the label. I'm not sure if this is pre-MAD (pre
1955) or post-MAD (after 1955), but it sure is cool! There is still
lotion in the bottle, but I am not sure if it has ever been opened.
It stands about 5" tall, and is in Excellent display condition. Lot #93 MAD Magazine / Al Jaffee American Flag T-Shirt 9/11 Tribute MB $10 This is an extremely hard to find Al
Jaffee t-shirt. Produced in 2002 by Al Jaffee, this t-shirt shows
an image of the American flag. But, upon closer inspection, the red
strips of the flag are actually the words to the Pledge Of
Allegiance. The print run of these t-shirts was very small, and not
many people own one/ This particular shirt is an Adult size Large,
and is in decent display condition. This shirt has been washed and
worn several times, but still maintains its shape and colors quite
nicely. Lot #94 The Grateful Dead / GD 50 / What A Long Worry Display Poster w/ Alfred E. Neuman MB $10 This is a promotional display poster
from the 2015 Grateful Dead US Tour. This poster is from the Chicago
/ Soldier Field dates of the tour (July 3, 4, and 5), and this
particular poster features Alfred E. Neuman as Jerry Garcia.
Measuring approx. 11" by 17", this item is unused, and in
Mint condition. A companion poster, featuring Jerry Garcia as Alfred
E. Neuman, was also produced, and is also for sale in Lot #95. Lot #95 The Grateful Dead / GD 50 / What A Long Worry Display Poster w/ Alfred E. Neuman MB $10 This is a promotional display poster
from the 2015 Grateful Dead US Tour. This poster is from the Chicago
/ Soldier Field dates of the tour (July 3, 4, and 5), and this
particular poster features Jerry Garcia as Alfred E. Neuman.
Measuring approx. 11" by 17", this item is unused, and in
Mint condition. A companion poster, featuring Alfred E. Neuman as
Jerry Garcia, was also produced, and is also for sale in Lot #94. Lot #96. 2015 DAB T-Shirt w/ Alfred E. Neuman & MAD Magazine Logo Swipe - MB $5 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in 2015 by Tans Club, this item is a t-shirt
promoting Phase Two of DAB. DAB stands for Digital Audio
Broadcasting, and a Phase Two expansion occurred in the United
Kingdom in 2015. I am not sure of the connection between DAB and MAD
Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman, but perhaps it is the "What - Me
Worry" angle. Who knows? This item is an Adult size Double
Extra Large (2XL), and is unused and in wrinkled Near Mint condition. Lot #97. Set Of Four (4) MAD Magazine / MAD Minutes Cassette Tapes RARE MB $10 This is a cool piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in the 1980's for E. C. Publications, this lot
contains four (4) different MAD Minutes cassette tapes. The MAD
Minutes were the brainchild of MAD Magazine writer, Dick DeBartolo,
and were minute-long comedy sketches that were distributed to radio
stations across the country. There were played during "dead
air" time, and were convenient fillers for unused advertising
slots and station promos. Each tape contained one comedy sketch on
each side, and there were over 60 different MAD Minute sketches
produced. The show numbers included on these tapes include: 24, 29,
34, 38, 53, the "Last One", and "blank". These
tapes are unused, and in Excellent display condition. Lot #98 MAD Magazine / William M. (Bill) Gaines Signed Note Card Autograph - MB $10 This is a 3" by 5" note
card, signed by the late Founder of MAD Magazine, Mr. William M.
(Bill) Gaines. Mr. Gaines signed this item in purple ink, and it is
in Excellent display condition.
Lot #99 1960's British "Lord Sega" Slot Machine Door w/ Alfred E. Neuman On Glass MB $25 This is a cool piece of Alfred E.
Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the 1960's by SEGA, this item is the
metal door from a 1960's "Lord Sega" slot machine. What's
unique about this item is that it features an Alfred E. Neuman image
on the glass panel on the door. It is assumed that Alfred's face
also appeared on the reel strips of this machine, but I don't know
for sure. In any event, this item is different than the other 1960's
slot machines with Alfred E. Neuman on them, and this is the first
time I have seen this version of the face. This door measures
approx. 15" by 23", and weighs almost 14 pounds, so special

Excellent display condition, with appropriate wear. Lot #100 Sergio Aragones Original Art - A MAD Look At The US Space Effort - Unused Art MB $250 This is a piece of original art from
Sergio Aragones' first ever submission to MAD. This art is an unused
panel from "A MAD Look At the US Space Effort". It was
determined that this panel was too similar to other panels that were
used, so it was omitted. It was filed away and forgotten about,
until I purchased a collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia from the
Estate of Jerry DeFuccio. This item was languishing in a manila
folder, along with a few signed letters and correspondence from Mr.
Aragones to Mr. DeFuccio. This rarity measures approx. 8 1/2"
by 11", and is signed and dated by Mr. Aragones at the lower
right hand corner of the art. This item is black pen/ink on 3-ring
binder paper. Mr. Aragones has acknowledged keeping his first few
submissions to MAD in a 3-ring binder, as that was all he had to
protect them. Aragones art is very popular these days, but to get an
original from his FIRST EVER piece he drew for MAD would the
centerpiece of your MAD Magazine original art collection. END OF SESSION TWO |
