Session One - Friday, November 5, 2021 Lot #1 - Complete Set Of Eleven (11) MAD Magazine 50th Anniversary Paperback Books MB $50 Here's
a hard to find collection of MAD Magazine paperback books. Published
in 2002, 2003, and 2004 by I-Books, this is the complete set of
eleven (11) MAD Magazine "Anniversary Edition" paperback
books. These books are complete reprints of the first eleven MAD
paperback books (The MAD Reader, MAD Strikes Back, Inside MAD,
Utterly MAD, The Brothers MAD, The Bedside MAD, Son Of MAD, The
Organization MAD, Like MAD, The Ides Of MAD, and Fighting MAD), which
were published by Ballantine Books and Signet Books in the 1950's and
early 1960's. This is the complete set, and no additional books were
printed after the Fighting MAD book was published. These books are
unread, and are in Near Mint condition, with light storage and
handling wear. Lot #2 - 2000 MAD Racing Team Baseball Cap / Hat Dale Creasy Jr. MB $15 This
is a cool piece of MAD Racing memorabilia. Produced in 2000 by NHRA
Properties for E.C. Publications, this item is a cloth baseball
cap/hat from the MAD Racing team of Dale Creasy Jr. The front of the
hat shows the words, "Vote MAD", while the back has the
words, "Dale Creasy Jr. - Don't Drink And Vote" stitched
above the adjustable plastic strap. This hat is unused, and in Mint
condition. It even has the NHRA Properties paper label still
attached. Lot #3 - Completely MAD Hardcover Book Signed By Bill Gaines First Printing MB $20 Here's
a cool piece of signed MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1992
by Little, Brown & Company, this is a first printing hardcover
edition of the MAD Magazine book, Completely MAD. Completely MAD is
billed as "A History of the Comic Book and Magazine", and
it surely does not disappoint, as it takes a look at MAD Magazine
from its humble beginnings as a 10-cent comic book all the way
through its deserved place in popular culture. This particular book
has also been signed by MAD Magazines founder, William M. (Bill)
Gaines, on the inside third page. This book appears to be read just
once or twice, and is in Excellent display condition. The outer dust
jacket does show some storage and handling wear, however. Lot #4 - MAD Magazine Coffee Mug "I'm MAD About Dad" Fathers Day Promo? MB $100 Here's
an ultra-rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1997
for E.C. Publications, this is a MAD Magazine coffee mug. This item
was consigned to this auction by the former MAD Magazine editor, John
Ficarra, who recalls that this mug was part of a Fathers Day
promotion back in the late 1990's. I, for one, never saw or heard
anything about these mugs being offered for sale, but that's not to
say they weren't. These have a Spencer Gifts feel to them, so maybe
they were sold in those stores with the existing MAD Magazine
merchandise already available? Who knows? This is the first (and
only) example of this mug that I have seen, and it is in Mint
condition. The opening bid reflects the rarity of this item. From
the collection of John Ficarra. Lot #5 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Plastic Breakfast Board Germany Mint MB $15 Here's
a cool piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the
2000's for E.C. Publications by Logoshirt Textil GmbH, this item is a

school folder from MAD Magazine. Featuring Alfred E. Neuman in full
color on the front, this folder also shows both the Black and White
Spies from the popular MAD Magazine feature, Spy vs. Spy, on the
back. The inside flaps of the folder also feature characters that
have appeared in MAD. There is also reference to MADMAG.com on the
inside of the folder, so maybe this was produced as a promotional
item for that? In any event, this item is very cool (and very rare),
so don't miss out on this beauty! This item measures approx. 9"
by 12" (folded), and is unused and in Mint condition. Lot #7 - MAD Magazine Pen w/ Original Box Jim McClane - MAD Collector MB $25 This
is a very cool (and very rare) office premium from MAD Magazine.
Produced in 1992 for E.C. Publications, this item is a personalized

particular recipient of this pen was a former MAD Magazine
memorabilia collector named Jim McClane, and his name, along with the
words, "What, Me Worry" have been engraved on one side of
the pen. The end of the pen also features a full color MAD Magazine
logo. The ink has dried up in this pen, but it still displays
beautifully. Both the pen and box appear to be unused, and both are
in Mint condition. From the collection of Jim McClane. Lot #8 - Alfred E. Neuman / F.D.N.Y. What Me Worry? Cloth Patch MB $5 Here's
a cool piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the
1990's, this is a commemorative patch from Battalion #53 of New York
City's fire department. This patch features a likeness of MAD
Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman in the center, along with his
catchphrase, "What Me Worry". I am not sure for what event

at least a year or two. Measuring approx. 4 7/8" by 4 7/8",
this item is unused, and in Mint condition. Lot #9 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Cloth Throw / Wall Hanging 2000's MB $20 Here's
a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the 2000's,
this is an Alfred E. Neuman cloth throw. Measuring approx. 34"
by 60", this item is larger than a beach towel, and is geared to
be used as a fleece blanket, or thrown over the back of a chair or
couch. In this case, the top edge has been rolled over and hemmed,
so that a wooden dowel could be passed through and attached to a
hanging wire or string. This item has been gently used and
laundered, and is in Excellent display condition. The previous
owners name is also evident near the top hem, on the back. Lot #10 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman as Superman T-Shirt 2000's MB $10 Here's

a cool piece of MAD Racing memorabilia. Produced in 1998 by Toliver
Motorsports and E.C. Publications, this item is a cloisonne pin from
the Jerry Toliver / MAD Racing fan club. The club was in existence
for the two years Mr. Tolliver drove for the MAD Racing team, then it
was dissolved after the team found a different driver. This pin
measures approx. 1" by 1 1/2", and it is still enclosed in
its sealed (stapled) bag. Lot #13 - MAD Magazine Artist / Tom Bunk 2009 Christmas Card To Don "Duck" Edwing MB $5 Here's
a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 2009 by
MAD Magazine artist, Mr. Tomas Bunk, this item is his personal 2009
Christmas Card. Mr. Bunk created this card to send out to friends

contains such hits like, "Bauernregel fur den August",
"Kurzweil auf der Autofahrt", "Diesmal fur Ochsen",

a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the
1970's, this item is a MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman butane
lighter. This particular item is one of a few that were given to the
staff of MAD by the creator, who hoped that MAD would license it for
sale. Unfortunately, MAD said "NO", with one of the reasons
being that the gentleman used the word "Who" instead of
"What" in the slogan on the front. The MAD Logo, the face
of Alfred E. Neuman, and the "Who Me Worry" slogan have all
been etched onto the front, and this item is in beautiful display
condition, with some light wear around the edges. From the

were packaged individually, but were never released for sale. These
cars are in Mint condition, with ultra light storage and handling
wear. Lot #17 - Foreign Up The Academy DVD Croatian Version Factory Sealed MB $5 Here's
a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 2006 by
Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., this is the Croatian translated
version (with English subtitles) of the 1980 box office flop, Up The
Academy. It amazes me that Warner Brothers would want to market this
movie outside of the US, but to each his own. This particular item
is still factory sealed, and in presumed Mint condition. Just when
you thought you've seen (or owned) all of the Up The Academy
memorabilia ever produced, along comes this stinker. Lot #18 - Funny Jokes & Foxy Riddles Al Jaffee Paperback Book 1968 MB $3 Here's

question, instead three or four. This book has been gently read, and
is in Excellent display condition. Lot #19 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Balloon Office Premium Promo MB $5 Here's

Greasy MAD Stuff. All of the books are original to the box, and it
appears that all have been read, some more than others. Overall, the
box is in decent display condition, with surface, corner and edge
wear. The books average Fine condition. You don't see this one very
often, so here's your chance. Lot #40 - Swedish MAD Magazine Soppase Paperback Book Collection Set Of Four (4) MB $175 Here's
a super rare piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in
1985 by Semic Press AB, this is a bagged collection of Swedish MAD
Magazine paperback books. Entitled, "Soppase Fran Svenska MAD"
(Garbage Bag from the Swedish MAD), this bagged set contains the
Swedish versions of the following MAD paperback books: MAD's Bizarre
Bazaar, Dave Berg Looks At You, MAD Clobbers The Classics, and Al
Jaffee Freaks Out. The books appear to have been read just once or
twice, while the "garbage bag" shows storage and handling
wear. This is the closest thing you'll see to a foreign MAD Magazine
paperback boxed set, and it would be a huge addition to any foreign
MAD Magazine collection. Lot #41 - Pre-MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman America And Peace Sticker RARE MB $50 Here's
a cool early piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Probably
produced in the 1920's by The Strobridge Litho Co., this is a sticker
with an early likeness of MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman on the
front. The words, "America And Peace" are printed at the
top of the sticker, with the words, "I'm For Both!"
appearing at the bottom. This sticker is commonly known among MAD
Magazine memorabilia collectors as the "America For Peace"
sticker, as that is how it is described in the MAD collectors bible,
Collectibly MAD. However, the word "For" was mistakenly
used in the description, as this sticker clearly has the word "And"
printed at the top. In any event, this sticker measures approx. 1
3/4" by 2 1/4", and is in Excellent display condition. Lot #42 - Swedish MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Promotional Postcard RARE MB $10 Here's
a cool piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the
1960's by Williams Forlags AB, this is a promotional postcard from
the Swedish version of MAD Magazine. The front of the postcard
features a beautiful rendering of Alfred E. Neuman by the Swedish
master, BOWEN, while the back of the postcard is blank, with space
for writing a short message and mailing address. Measuring approx. 4
1/8" by 5 7/8", this item is unused, and in Excellent
display condition, with light storage and handling wear. Lot #43 - Chinese (Taiwan) MAD Magazine Mailing Envelope & Full Color Poster 1990 MB $50 Here's
another cool piece of foreing MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in
1990 by Rock Communications, this lot contains an original Chinese
MAD Magazine mailing envelope, along with a full color promotional
subscription poster. The Chinese (Taiwan) version of MAD Magazine
lasted only six (6) issues, and all six issues are rather difficult
to find. But, even harder to find are these two items. The front
and back of the color poster is shown is Pictures 1 and 3, while a
close-up of the mailing envelope is shown in Picture 2. The mailing
envelope measures approx. 9 1/8" by 12 1/2", while the
coloe poster measures approx. 9 1/8" by 11 5/8". Both
items are in Excellent display condition. Lot #44 - Musically MAD Record Album Rare Front Cover Variant RCA 1959 MB $25 Here's
a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1959 by
the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), this the mono version of the
MAD Magazine record album, Musically MAD. Normally, this album cover
contains a large, full color rendering of Alfred E. Neuman. But this
version contains a "modern art" front cover instead of
Alfred E. Neuman. The back cover, with art by Wally Wood and notes
by Al Feldstein, remains the same. Overall, this item is decent
display condition with normal surface, corner and edge wear. But,
just when you thought you had all of the MAD Magazine records........ Lot #45 - 1908 Anitkamnia Tablet Calendar w/Alfred E. Neuman Image French Version MB $100 Here's
a rare piece of foreign pre-MAD / Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia.
Produced in 1907 by La Societe Chimique D'Antikamnia, this is their
annual 1908 tablet calendar. This calendar is titled "Ca M'A Pas
Fait Mal!", and features an early image of MAD Magazine's Alfred
E. Neuman on the front . This calendar is the French cousin of the
1908 "It Didn't Hurt A Bit" Antikamnia calendar, and is
identical, except for the printed French text. This calendar
measures approx. 7 3/4" by 10", and displays beautifully. Lot #46 - TANG / MAD Magazine Promo Issue w/ Attached Mailing Cover MB $15 Here's
a cool piece of memorabilia from a sweepstakes event with Tang
Breakfast Drink and MAD Magazine. Published in 1997 by E.C.
Publications, this is a mailed copy of the TANG Special Edition
magazine. The TANG sweepstakes drawing was held on July 31, 1997,
and the Grand Prize was the winners likeness illustrated on the cover
on a Special Issue of MAD. There was only one Special Issue
published, and that was for the winner only. These TANG special
editions are rather difficult to find, especially with the mailing
cover attached. This issue is in Excellent display condition. Lot #47 - German MAD Magazine #180 Planet Of The Apes Unreleased Cover RARE MB $75 Here's
a cool piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2017
by Panini Verlags GmbH, this lot contains German MAD Magazine #180.
This issue has an unreleased cover, however. Initially, the cover
that is shown was going to be the cover that was released for sale.
But, there was some sort of pushback from the President of Turkey,
who threatened to sue the German MAD if the cover went public. So, a
last minute change was made. There were a few of these "Apes"
issues printed, and those were given to the German MAD staff. This
issue appears to be unread, and is in Near Mint condition, with
ultra-light handling wear. Lot #48 - MAD Magazine #166 "The Finger Cover" w/ Certificate Of Authenticity MB $25 Here's
a rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Originally published in
1974 by E.C. Publications, this is issue #166 of MAD Magazine. But,
what makes this lot special is that it contains an uncirculated copy
of MAD #166, along with a specially printed "Certificate Of
Authenticity". These uncirculated issues, along with their
respective COA's, were then offered as subscription premiums for the
MAD Classics line, beginning in issue #476 and ending in issue #471.
This particular issue, while uncirculated, does show light storage
and handling wear. The Certificate of Authenticity is in Mint
condition. Lot #49 - Orson Bean At The Hungry Comedy LP w/ MAD Magazine Reprint Article MB $25 Here's
a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1960 by
Fantasy Records Inc. (Crown Album Corp.), this is a 33 1/3 rpm comedy
album from the late comedian, television personality, and early MAD
Magazine contributor, Mr. Orson Bean. This record includes several
of his hit stand-up routines, and is an enjoyable comedic recording.
But, what makes this item desirable to MAD Magazine memorabilia
collectors is the appearance of a special 4-page insert that reprints
one of Mr. Bean's MAD Magazine contributions. Mr. Bean asked MAD for
permission to reprint his MAD article, and permission was granted,
which resulted in this insert. This 4-page insert is hardly ever
seen when this record is re-sold, and a recent eBay search showed
eight (8) of these albums for sale, but none had the insert included.
This lot includes the cardboard sleeve, the red vinyl record, the
paper record sleeve, and the MAD article insert. The MAD insert is
in the best condition of all of the items, and is in NM condition.
Both the cardboard sleeve and paper sleeve show significant wear. Lot #50 - MAD Magazine Valentine's Day Massacre Commemorative Coffee Mug MB $50 Produced
in 1994 by E.C. Publications, this item is a commemorative MAD
Magazine coffee mug. This mug was produced for the employees of DC
Comics who weren't invited to the 1993 MAD Christmas Party.
Apparently, the MAD people throw quite a bash, and there were some
people who were upset that they didn't receive an invitation to the
event. So, in place of a Christmas party, a special Valentine's Day
party was held instead. The date of the party on the mug is listed as
February 9, 1994, but due to inclement weather, the party was
cancelled and rescheduled at a later date. This mug is only one of
about 100 produced, and is quite rare. It appears to be unused, and
is in Near Mint condition, with light storage wear. Described with
some valuable assistance from Grant Geissman, and his book,
Collectibly MAD. Lot #51 - MAD Magazine / Spy vs. Spy Licensee Style Guide 2006 RARE MB $75 Here's a super rare piece of Spy vs. Spy memorabilia. Produced in 2006 by E.C. Publications, this is a rare piece of MAD Magazine licensing. This item contains licensing guidelines for the creation of Spy vs. Spy retail items, as well as approved design processes for those items. All of the logos, design guidelines, characters, etc. are contained on two (2) discs at the back of the guide. This item is very cool and very rare, and for the Spy vs. Spy collector, it will be one of the key items in their collection. This item is sealed, and in presumed Mint condition. Lot #52 - Weekly Shonen Sunday #627 w/ Spy vs. Spy Reprints & MAD Trip Photos 1970's MB $50 Here's a cool piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1970 by Shogakukan, this item is Issue #627 of Weekly Shonen Sunday. Weekly Shonen Sunday is a popular Japanese Manga magazine, and currently is still being published. But, this issue is of interest to MAD Magazine collectors, as it includes seven (7) pages of Spy vs. Spy features from MAD Magazine. In addition, this book also contains pictures and Japanese text from the MAD Trip to Japan back in 1970. This book is quite rare, and is the first one I have ever seen. It has been wrapped in wax paper to protect it, and is in Excellent display condition. Lot #53 - MAD Magazine Issues #301, 302, 303 Hussein Asylum Editions 1991 RARE MB $100 This
is a super rare collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in
1991 by E.C. Publications, these are issues 301, 302, and 303 of MAD
Magazine. But, what makes these particular issues so unique is that
these are the rare "Hussein Asylum" editions of MAD
Magazine. The "Hussein Asylum" editions were issues 300,
301, 302, and 303, and they were distributed to the US troops in the
Middle East during the Persian Gulf war. The contents of the Hussein
Asylum issues and the regular issues are the same, and the only
distinguishing factor is the face of Alfred E. Neuman in the corner
of the front cover, where the UPC symbol would normally be. These
issues appear to be unread, and are in Near Mint condition, with
ultra-light storage and handling wear. Lot #54 - MAD Magazine #103 Signed By Thirteen (13) Members Of The UGOI MB $200 Here's
a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1966 by
E.C. Publictions, this is issue #103 of MAD Magazine. But, what
makes this item special is that it has been signed on the front cover
by thirteen (13) members of the Usual Gang of Idiots. The MAD-men
who have signed it include: John Putnam, Bill Gaines, Dick
DeBartolo, Nick Meglin, Al Feldstein, Dave Berg, Jerry DeFuccio, Mort
Drucker, Lenny Brenner, Jack Richard, Sergio Aragones (with drawing),
Al Jaffee, and Richard Grillo (subscriptions). Although the front
cover is where the value is for this item, it is almost detached, and
is a very delicate condition. You'd be well advised to put this
beauty in a frame for proper display. Lot #55 - Completely MAD Hardcover Book Signed by Twenty-One (21) Of The UGOI MB $450 Here's
a rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1992 by
Little Brown & Co., this is a First Printing of the hardcover
edition of Completely MAD. Normally, this book wouldn't cause a
stir, as thousands of copies (both paperback and hardcover) have been
sold, through multiple printings. But, this particular book is
special, as it has been signed by twenty-one (21) members of the
Usual Gang of Idiots. The Idiots who have signed this book include:
Irving Schild (with drawing), Bob Clarke, Annie Gaines, Mort Drucker,
Lenny Brenner, Russ Cochran, Sam Viviano, Kelly Freas (with drawing),
Will Elder, Nick Meglin, Duck Edwing (with drawing), Leslie
Sternberg, Harvey Kurtzman, Dick DeBartolo, Lou Silverstone, Don
Martin, John Ficarra, Bill Gaines, Frank Jacobs, Sergio Aragones
(with drawing), and one unidentified signature. This book is a
must-have in any MAD Magazine memorabilia collection, due to the fact
that 70% of the people who signed this book are no longer with us.
This book is in Excellent display condition, with a clear sheet of
acetate surrounding the dust jacket. Lot #56 - MAD Magazine Office Premium Tote Bag Black Version MB $35 Here's
a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the early
1990's, this is a rare MAD Magazine canvas tote bag. This bag was
made expressly for the artists, writers and staff of MAD Magazine,
and is one of two (2) different styles of bag produced. The MAD
logo is silk-screened on each side, and the logo is nice and bright.
This item has been gently used, and is in Excellent display
condition. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #57 - The Half-Wit and Wisdom of Alfred E. Neuman Signed By Sergio Aragones MB $50 Here's
a rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1997 by
Warner Books Inc., this is a First Printing of the MAD Magazine
hardcover book, The Half-Wit and Wisdom of Alfred E. Neuman. But,
the value of this book lies on the inside front cover, where Sergio
Aragones signed his name and drew a hilarious sketch of some of the
other Usual Gang of Idiots. Apparently, the UGOI went out for a meal
at Cafe Espanol in April of 1997 and according to the sketch, one of
them was really, really hungry. It looks like Sergio Aragones, Tom
Nozkowski, Nick Meglin, Annie Gaines Ashton, and Lenny Brenner were
at the dinner, as well as one other unidentified diner. This book
appears to be unread, and is in Excellent display condition. From
the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #58 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Mouse Pad Totally MAD Set 1999 MB $5 Here's

of it. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #60 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Coffee Mug XPRES 1996 MB $15 This
is a ceramic coffee mug, featuring two different renderings of MAD

is a set of ceramic refrigerator magnets, featuring two different

there are to this note pad, but I think 100 sheets would be a decent
guesstimate. This pad measures approx. 5 3/8" by 8 1/2" by
1/2" thick, and is in Excellent display condition. It also
appears to be unused. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #68 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Ceramic Stein 1996 XPRES MB $25 Here's

an ultra-rare piece of MAD Magazine history. Created on June 5, 1992
by MAD Magazine cover artist, Richard Williams, this is a fax
transmission sheet that was sent to the editorial staff at MAD
Magazine, and also to members of the Gaines family, in the wake of
the death of William M. (Bill) Gaines, the founder and publisher of
MAD Magazine. Mr. Williams created this image of a whimpering Alfred
E. Neuman on the morning of Mr. Gaines' death, but ultimately, this
image was not chosen. Instead, a smiling Alfred E. Neuman (with a
tear in his eye) appeared in the June 10, 1992 edition of the New
York Times. I've heard that this is the image the family wanted to
run, but I cannot confirm that. This item measures approx. 8 1/2"
by 11", and is in decent display condition, with several
creases, some light staining, and heavy handling wear. It appears
that this item was loosely crumpled into a ball, perhaps in haste (or
sadness) by Mr. Meglin. It has since been flattened out, with the
light creases showing. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #71 - Collection Of Mort Drucker Items Articles, Photos, Business Card MB $40 Here's
a cool collection of Mort Drucker memorabilia. This lot contains

by E.C. Publications, this lot contains twenty-five (25) full color
portraits of MAD Magazine's cover boy, Alfred E. Neuman. Portraits

a collection of stationery from the files of Nick Meglin. Probably
produced in the 1970's or 1980's, this is a collection of stationery
note pads from the files of the late editor of MAD Magazine, Nick
Meglin. While MAD Magazine produced reams and reams of paper
stationery to be used by its employees, it appears that Mr. Meglin
had some of his own stationery produced for his own personal use.
Mr. Meglin was associated with several other projects outside of
working for MAD Magazine, so perhaps by using this stationery he was
able to maintain his separation from MAD while doing other projects.
There are at least fifty (50) loose sheets of the "Memo
From...Nick Meglin", one (1) sheet of the white Nick Meglin, and
a pad of at least fifty (50) sheets of the other Nick Meglin (right
photo). All pieces are in Excellent display condition, with light
storage wear. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #89 - Tim Johnson / MAD Magazine Memorabilia Auction Catalogs Three (3) Different MB $30 Here's
a cool collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1999,
2000, and 2001 by Tim Johnson (me), this is a collection of auction
catalogs from three (3) of my past MAD Magazine telephone auctions.
These were sent gratuitously to the late MAD Magazine editor, Nick
Meglin, and although he did not place a bid in any of them, he
graciously kept them as souvenirs. These catalogs are all printed in
black & white, and are rather primitive compared to the color
catalogs I have made over the past few years. But, color printing was
(and still is) very expensive. These catalogs contain some rare and
hard-to-find pieces of MAD Magazine memorabilia, with the 2001
catalog (pictured on the right) offering a whopping 390 lots! They
are all in Excellent display condition, with a few rusty staples.
From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #90 - SENCS Commemorative Long Sleeve Shirt w/ Jack Davis Medium MB $20 Here's
a cool piece of Jack Davis memorabilia. Produced in 2009 by the

sleeve shirt with a likeness of the long time MAD Magazine artist,
Jack Davis, on the front. This rare shirt was made exclusively for
the National Cartoonists Society Southeastern Chapter Weekend, which
was held September 25-27, 2009 in Asheville, North Carolina. The
late MAD Magazine artist, Jack Davis, was guest of honor, while Nick
Meglin and Don "Duck" Edwing, were special guests.
Featuring a wonderful caricature of Mr. Davis on the front, this
adult size Medium shirt appears to be unused, and is in Mint
condition. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #91 - Collection of MAD Magazine Office Paper Memorabilia Cards, Stickers, etc. MB $30 Here's
a nice collection of MAD Magazine office memorabilia. Produced in

Meglin color postcards (both numbered and unnumbered), five (5) white
subscription postcards, eleven (11) white MAD Magazine address label
stickers (5 complete, 6 pieces), four (4) assorted MAD Magazine
subscription card inserts, one (1) Nick Meglin business card, and

appear to be unused, and, with the exception of the 6 pieces of white
label stickers, are in Mint condition. From the collection of Nick
Meglin. Lot #92 - Nick Meglin / MAD Magazine File Copies 1950's & 1960's MB $100 Here's
a collection of old MAD Magazines. Published in 1958, 1959, 1960,
1961, 1962, 1963, and 1968 by E.C. Publications, this is a set of

a collection of old MAD Magazines. Published in 1958, 1959, and 1961
by E.C. Publications, this is a set of five (5) MAD Magazines. These
magazines were collected by the late MAD Magazine editor, Nick
Meglin, and were either used for research for other projects, or
stored and saved for posterity. The issues included in this set are
all issues of More Trash From MAD, and include issues 1 (2 copies), 2
(2 copies), and 4. All of the issues have their respective bonuses
attached, and they are all in generally nice shape. One of the #2

the top. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #94 - Collection of Nine (9) Issues Of The "NEW" MAD Burbank Edition MB $50 Here's
a cool collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2018,
2020, and 2021 by E.C. Publications, this is a collection of nine (9)
issues from the Burbank edition of MAD Magazine. Back in 2017, MAD
Magazine ceased to be published in New York City. MAD's parent
company, DC Comics, was moved to Burbank, California, and took MAD
Magazine with them. These issues feature new editorship, and several
new artists and writers. Just a few artists stayed on with the new
format, including Sergio Aragones, Al Jaffee, and Tom Richmond. This
lot contains issues #3 (2 copies), 14, 18 (2 copies), 19 (2 copies),
and 20 (2 copies), and are part of a file copy collection that
belonged to the late editor of MAD Magazine, Mr. Nick Meglin. These
issues appear to be unread, and are in Near Mint condition, with
storage and handling wear. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #95 - Set Of Two (2) MAD Magazine #409 w/ No Covers Production Error MB $5 Here's
a rare collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2001 by
E.C. Publications, this is a set of two (2) issues of MAD Magazine
#409. But, these two issues are production errors, and were bundled
and sent to MAD Magazine without their wraparound front/back covers
attached. To some MAD Magazine collectors, these are "Meh!"
To others (or completists like me), these are "Cool!"
I'll let you decide. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #96 - Nick Meglin / MAD Magazine File Copies 1970's MB $50 Here's
a collection of old MAD Magazines. Published in 1974, 1975, 1976,

copies), 194, 197, 198, 203 (3 copies), and Super Special #23. Most
of the issues are in great shape, although 197 and 198 have chipping
along the spine, and all of the 203 issues have age browning along
the edges of the front covers, as well as edge chipping. MAD Super
Special #23 is garbage. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #97 - Nick Meglin / MAD Magazine File Copies 1980's MB $100 Here's

their back covers. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #98 - Set Of Two (2) MAD Magazines Signed By Sam Viviano Cool! MB $15 Here's
a set of signed MAD Magazines. Published in 1998 and 2008 by E.C.
Publications, this lot contains issues #371 and #495 of MAD Magazine.
Normally, these issues wouldn't gather that much fanfare, but these
issues are special, as they have both been signed by the former MAD
Magazine art director, Sam Viviano, on the front cover. These issues
appear to have never been read, and are in Excellent display
condition. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #99 - Nick Meglin / MAD Magazine File Copies 1990's & 2000's MB $50 Here's

1970's by E.C. Publications, this item is a MAD Magazine back issue
postcard. This postcard was sent to potential buyers of back issues
of MAD Magazines, MAD Super Specials, and any of the MAD annuals
(Worst, More Trash, Follies). It doesn't surprise me that MAD didn't
have very many back issues available in the 1970's, as that is when
readership was the highest, and returns were minimal. It appears
that the only thing they had were paperback books. Lots of them.
This item is in terrific display condition, with a large postage
meter ink streak on the "Don Martin" side, and a hand
written address on the other. It has been postally used. Lot #106 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Promotional Memo Pad MB $20 This

some cool pieces of MAD Magazine original art. Produced in 1990 by
MAD Magazine artist, John Caldwell, this lot contains three (3)
different panels from a 10-panel story titled, "MAD's Really
Relevant Collection Of Lists". This story appeared in MAD
Magazine #295, and issue #295 will also be included in this lot, if
you wish to frame the pieces together. All three pieces have a
tracing paper overlay attached, with the orange marker shading.
These pieces of art were created on pieces of art paper measuring 8
1/2" wide, and between 10" and 11" in length. All
items are in Excellent display condition. Lot #125 - 1923 "Guffer" Yearbook pages w/ pre-MAD Alfred E. Neuman RARE MB $25 Here's
a cool piece of early Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Published in
1923 by the University of Minnesota, this is a collection of pages
from "The Guffer", the official yearbook of the University
of Minnesota. This particular edition features an early, pre-MAD
photo of the modern Alfred E. Neuman, with the caption, "Medic
After Passing Con Exam In P. Chem". This yearbook is not
complete, and does not contain all of the pages. Rather, this is a
collection of pages ranging from p.613 through p.656. These existing
pages have been bound into a newer binding, but the page with the
Alfred E. Neuman image is the page that counts the most. This item
is in Excellent display condition, and is one of the earliest
examples of the "modern" pre-MAD image of Alfred E. Neuman. Lot #126 - 1983 MAD Magazine / Fleer Trouble Stickers Uncut Sheet RARE MB $20 Here's
a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1983 by Fleer,
this is an uncut sheet of MAD Trouble Stickers. Back in 1983, Fleer
produced a set of 128 different numbered MAD Magazine stickers and a
set of 64 un-numbered MAD Magazine stickers. This sheet is an uncut
sheet of the un-numbered stickers. The reverse side of the sheet
features two (2) panels of the smiling face of Alfred E. Neuman, and
two (2) panels of Don Martin artwork. Measuring approx. 28 1/2"
by 40 1/2", this item has been rolled and is in decent display
condition, with a few areas of the sticker sheet becoming unglued and
separating from the cardboard back, particularly along the edges. Lot #127 - Pre-MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman 1912 Newspaper Advertisement MB $50 Here's
a rare piece of early Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Published in
1912 by The Madison (Wisc.) Democrat, this is Page 7 of the October
6, 1912 edition of the Madison Democrat. This is the complete page,
and there is an advertisement in the bottom corner for a painless
dentist. Any guesses as to whose face is in the advertisement?
You're right! It's an early version of the "It Didn't Hurt A
Bit" version of Alfred E. Neuman. This page has been laminated,
and tastefully displayed in a glass frame. The frame measures
approx. 18" by 24", but the picture is easily removable, if
you care to frame it some other way. It would certainly be easier to
ship without the frame (rolled), but that's up to you. This is a
well-preserved, historical piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia, so
don't miss out! Lot #128 - Set Of Three (3) Alfred E. Neuman Lookalike Toy Dolls 1940's? MB $25 Here's
a cool collection of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Probably produced
between the 1940's and 1960's, this is a set of Alfred E. Neuman
lookalike toy dolls. The largest one in the middle is a "Happy
Boy" doll made by Effanbee in 1960, and has the word, "Effanbee"
stamped on the back of his neck.. The other two I'm not too sure
about. The smallest one is a celluloid doll, and is quite fragile.
I would guess that is the oldest of the three. The one shown on the
left is German, and has text written on the base, "Berliner
Schusterjunge". His blue apron and red hat are also made of
felt. The dolls measure 8 3/8" tall, 10 1/2" tall, and 5
1/4" tall (from left to right), and all are in Excellent display
condition. Lot #129 - The MAD Stew Paperback Book w/ Color Cover & Reprint Proofs RARE MB $20 Here's

of Mr. Woodbridge's obituary from the January 22, 2004 edition of the
New York Times. It is the complete page, and it has been folded into
1/4's. The second item is a "Progress Report On The Book
Tentatively Called - American Military Equipage, 1851-1872".
Mr. Woodbridge was a huge fan of the American military, and his
illustrative work on the subject won several awards, as he was a
stickler for detail. The third item is a color photocopy of the page
he illustrated for a "tribute" book that was created for
the late MAD Magazine writer, Mr. Frank Jacobs. All three items are
in Excellent display condition. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #132 - Collection Of MAD Magazine Publicity Items Sales Sheets, News Reports, etc. MB $5 Here's
a unique collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Mostly produced in

report on Team Toliver and the MAD Racing team, fact sheets
containing answers to "Everything You Always Wanted To Know
About MAD, But Were Too Sane To Ask", as well as a few other
items. This is a neat collection of stuff, and is certainly worth
the opening bid. From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #133 - MAD Magazine #382 w/ Lighter Side Of Pre-School Premise & Sketch MB $10 Here's
an obscure piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1999 by
E.C. Publications, this lot contains issue #382 of MAD Magazine.
Also included with this issue is a sketch drawn by the late MAD
Magazine editor, Nick Meglin, for the popular Dave Berg feature, "The
Lighter Side...". Later in his career, Mr. Berg received gag
writing help from Mr. Meglin for his "Lighter Side of.."
feature. Mr. Berg would receive all sorts of sketches and ideas from
Mr. Meglin, and then would finish them in ink and submit them for
publication. This particular idea about a pre-school teacher taking
a nap was used in MAD #382. The issue and sketch are both included
in this lot, and both are in Excellent display condition. From the
collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #134 - Pipes & Tobaccos Magazine Spring 1998 Issue w/ Dave Berg Cover MB $10 Here's

Mr. Davis was the Guest-Of-Honor, a color photo of some of the Usual
Gang Of Idiots that includes Nick Meglin, Peter Kuper, Bob Clarke,
Mort Drucker, Sam Viviano, and Mr. Davis, several cut-out pieces
(both color and b/w) from his personal "Sell Sheets", and
much more. All items are in Excellent condition, and could be
assembled into a large collage, if you saw fit. From the collection
of Nick Meglin. Lot #136 - Nick Meglin / Illustrated Sketch & Premise MAD Magazine? MB $10 Here's
an obscure piece of Nick Meglin memorabilia. This lot contains four
(4) sheets of a humorous premise written and drawn by the late MAD
Magazine editor, Nick Meglin. In this sequence, two nurses are
attending to a patient, when one of them attempts to take the
patients temperature anally. When all is said and done, they realize
that they stuck a pencil in the patients behind, not a thermometer.
I'm not sure for which MAD Magazine artist or feature Mr. Meglin drew
this for, or even if he drew this for MAD at all? In any event, this
item is cool and would look great framed together. There are four
(4) sheets in this lot, and each measures approx. 8" by 11".
From the collection of Nick Meglin. Lot #137 - It's A MAD World Paperback Boxed Set Eight (8) Books MB $200 Here's

here's your chance. Lot #138 - Set Of Two (2) Japanese MAD Magazine / Don Martin Paperback Books RARE MB $200 Here's
an incredibly rare collection of foreign MAD Magazine paperback

small tear at one corner. The books average VG-F condition. This is
one of the rarest, if not THE rarest, MAD paperback boxed set to

this pin was released, the Swedish Alfred E. Neuman Fan Supporter
Club (AENFSC) was formed, which in it's heyday in the 1980's, boasted
over 15,000 members. In any event, this pin is very difficult to
find in Sweden, and almost impossible to find here in the USA. Until
now. This item is quite small, and measures approx. 1 1/2"

is hard to find foreign MAD Magazine first issue. Published in 1975
by Euredit, this is the first, premiere, #1 issue of the Spanish
version of MAD Magazine. The title, "Locuras", is the
literal Spanish translation of the word, "MAD", and all six
issues from this edition had "Locuras" at the title. This
is actually the first issue from the SECOND edition of the Spanish
MAD. The first edition, from 1974, also lasted only six issues. The
title of those issues was just "MAD", so perhaps the
editors thought that readership levels would be higher if they
translated the name. In any case, this issue is in VG/F condition,
with light surface, corner and edge wear. Lot #149 - MAD Paperback Boxed Set World Is Going MAD Five (5) Books MB $25 Here's

a super rare piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in
the 1970's, this is a pinback button featuring Alfred E.Neuman from
MAD Magazine. There were a few licensed German MAD items with the
"Na Und..." wording on them (among them were a t-shirt and
a poster), but even the most dedicated German MAD collectors cannot
say whether or not this item was an actual licensed item. But, this
pin is very difficult to find, and is highly sought after, even in
Germany. Measuring approx. 1" in diameter, this pin is in
Excellent display condition, with light storage and handling wear. Lot #152 - Knoxville Westerner High School Yearbook w/ MAD Magazine Theme 1959 MB $75 Here's

auction catalogs. Back in 1986, Russ Cochran started auctioning off
the original artwork to the first 23 EC/MAD comic books, and
continued selling the magazine art starting in 1989. All told, there
were 17 different auctions containing original art from the pages of
MAD. This lot contains the catalogs from three of those auctions,
representing art from issues #26-83. As an added bonus, each catalog
also show the prices realized from the previous auction. These
catalogs are in Excellent display condition, and are folded
horizontally in the middle. A couple of them also have a mailing
label attached. Lot #159 - Baby Boomer Collectibles #3 w/ MAD Magazine Collectibles Article MB $5 Here's a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1993 by ADD Inc., this is issue #3 of Baby Boomer Collectibles, a pop culture magazine. Neuman. This particular issue appears to be unread, and is in NM condition, with light surface and handling wear. Note:
I purchased this issue (not this EXACT issue) off a newsstand in
Stevens Point, Wisconsin in the Fall of 1993, and it changed my life.
At the time, my MAD collection consisted of magazines and a few
paperback books. Little did I know that by purchasing this issue, I
would be placing ads in newspapers across the country, looking for
MAD Magazine memorabilia. That was over 25 years ago, and I wouldn't
change a thing. You can thank this issue of Baby Boomer Collectibles
for the MAD Magazine memorabilia auction you're participating in
tonight. Lot #160 - Alfred E. Neuman For President Metal Tab Pins (2) & Rubber Pinback MB $10 Here's

for President rubber pinback, which was a subscription premium back
in the early 2000's. This pin is rather difficult to find, and this
particular example is also in Near Mint condition. Lot #161 - Kodachrome Photography Color Slide w/ MAD Zeppelin 1965 MB $10 Here's
a cool piece of MAD Magazine history. Produced in 1965, this is a
photographic slide taken inside a man's bedroom. In the background,
it shows a man playing his guitar. He looks to be in his teenage
years, and appears to be a fan of MAD Magazine, as the picture is
focused on the MAD Zeppelin he constructed, hanging from the overhead
light in his room. This slide measures approx. 2" by 2",
and could easily be duplicated or enlarged into a nice poster. This
item is in Excellent display condition. Lot #162 - "Pre-MAD" Alfred E. Neuman Pinback Button RARE Larger Size MB $5 Here's
another cool piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Probably
produced in the 1960's, this is a pinback button featuring the face
of Alfred E. Neuman from MAD Magazine. Although I can't be certain,
I would say that this is not a true pre-MAD item (pre 1952), but
rather an older pinback button that uses the pre-MAD image of Alfred.
It's certainly 50-60 years old, that's for sure. It measures
approx. 1 3/4" in diameter, and is in Good display condition,
with light foxing around the edges, and tarnishing on the back. Lot #163 - Collection Of Old "Boondocker" Comic Strips Jack Davis 1940's - WWII MB $15 Here's

comics from an edition of the Navy News. The 42 comic panels have
each been cut from the newspaper and individually placed into clear
photo album sleeves. The newspaper comic section has been folded,
and there is significant chipping along all of the edges. Overall,
these make for a wonderful display of early art from one of America's
favorite comic art illustrators. Lot #164 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman FUNKO Pop! Vinyl Doll Sealed MB $10 Here's
a brand new piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 2020 by
FUNKO, this is the Alfred E. Neuman version of the popular Funko Pop!
vinyl dolls. I don't understand the mystique surrounding the Funko
Pop! dolls, and I am not really a fan. Yes, the doll shows Alfred E.
Neuman in his classic, "What - Me Worry" pose. And, the
clothing and the hair is identical to what Alfred E. Neuman wears.
But it's the eyes that I'm not a fan of. Just two, big, black dots.
But, that's what every character Funko Pop! doll has, and apparently,
that's what the collectors of these dolls enjoy. So, here it is.
For just $10 (cheaper than retail). Please bid and get this out of
my house. Please and Thank You! Lot #165 - MAD Magazine #41 Cover Tear Sheet Signed By Kelly Freas MB $10 Here'a

is the MAD parody issue, and features a likeness of Alfred E. Neuman

Magazine. This issue was a giveaway at the 2008 New York Comic Con,
and other "freebie" editions of MAD were also given away at
both the Chicago and San Diego Comic Cons. This issue is the hardest
to find of all three. This particular was never given away, and was
taken home by a member of the Usual Gang of Idiots. It appears this
issue wasn't stored properly, as it shows light creases and bends
throughout, as if it was sat on at some point. But, it still manages
to look OK in a plastic sleeve with a backing board. From the
collection of an anonymous member of the Usual Gang of Idiots. Lot #171 - Pitiless Parodies And Other Outrageous Verse Signed By Frank Jacobs MB $20 Here's

a rare collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1978 and
1979 by E.C. Publications, this is a small collection of MAD
Magazines. What makes these issues special, however, is that they
are rare Canadian export issues. This is evidenced by the $.75 cent
price printed on the front cover. The US edition has a $.60 cent
cover price for each issue, while these are all listed at 15 cents
more, due to the currency exchange rate. Plus, the words "Our
Price" and "Cheap" have been translated into French
(Notre Prix & Pas Cher), and those words have been printed on the
front cover. It is assumed that these editions were sold in Quebec.
Outside of the printed price difference, this issue is identical to

image of Alfred E. Neuman. Featuring a multi-colored Alfred E.
Neuman with colors of day-glo yellow and orange, this piece is among
the more difficult to find pieces of pre-MAD Magazine memorabilia.
If this piece looks familiar, it may be because it also appears on p.
127 of Collectibly MAD. Measuring approx. 7" by 11", this
item is in Excellent display condition. This item is pictured next
to a MAD paperback book in Picture Three, for size comparison only.

Usual Gang of Idiots, including Dave Berg, Jack Davis, and Will
Elder. All told, there are over 30 pages of MADness to be read and
enjoyed, with bonus points given if you can read and understand the
Dutch language. This issue appears to have been lightly read, and is
in Excellent display condition. Lot #181 - The Wittenburg Door #63 MAD Magazine Parody Issue 1981 RARE MB $20 Here's

Jerry DeFuccio, on the inside first page. This book was signed and
given to a gentleman named Jerry Sinkovec, who founded the comic and
cartoon fanzine, The Menomonee Falls Gazette, and later edited
another comic fanzine, the Comic Reader. It was during his time with

comes from the comic strip, Bloom N' Bugs, and was drawn by the late
Cracked Magazine cover artist (and early MAD Magazine contributor),

comic strip art, and I was even more surprised that he collaborated
with MAD Magazine artist, Duck Edwing, to write the strip. Measuring
approx. 7 7/8" by 16 1/4", this 4-panel gag is in Excellent
