Comic Con, and was made to promote the MAD - Animated Series on the
Cartoon Network. This shirt is an Adult size XL, and is unused and
in Mint condition. This shirt was made to look used and worn
(distressed), but this shirt is in perfect condition. Lot #39 - Alfred E. Neuman "Cigar" Pinback Button 1970's MB $5 Here's a tough to
find piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Probably produced in the
1970's, this item is an Alfred E. Neuman pinback button. This
pinback features Alfred E. Neuman on the front, smoking a cigar.
There are no other identifying characteristics on it. No copyright
date. No company or corporation. Nothing. It measures approx. 1"
in diameter, and is in Excellent display condition. The back does
show a little tarnishing, however. Lot #40 - MAD Magazine Calendars Lot 1970's - 2000's Six (6) Different MB $20 Here's a cool
collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1975, 1978,
1979, and 1980 by Warner Books,1988 by Landmark, and 2008 by Asgard
Press, this is a collection of six (6) different MAD Magazine wall
calendars. Generally speaking, the top half of the calendar features
panel art from a previously published issue of MAD, and features art
from your favorite MAD Magazine artists, like Jack Davis, Dave Berg,
Paul Coker, Sergio Aragones, and a host of others. The numbered days
also have tidbits of MAD Magazine art sprinkled in as well. These
calendars have been lightly used, but are in Excellent display
condition, with light storage and handling wear. There are two (2)
of the 1981 calendars included. Lot #41 - MAD Magazine / Kenny Wallace Race Car 1:24 Scale MAD / NASCAR MB $15 Here's a cool piece
of MAD Racing memorabilia. Produced in 2004 by Action Performance
Companies, this is a 1:24 scale diecast model car. The full size
version of this car was driven by racer Kenny Wallace, on the NASCAR
circuit. This diecast model car is part of a limited edition
offering, and still comes with its original shipping/storage box. I
don't think it was ever taken out of its box before I photographed
it. It is beautiful, and in Mint condition. Lot #42 - Early MAD Magazine Subscription Renewal Card 1960's RARE MB $5 Here's a rare piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the 1960's by E.C.
Publications, this item is a MAD Magazine subscription renewal card.
Cards like these were enclosed with the subscriber's final
subscription issue, and were often times lost, as they were not
attached in any way. This particular card has not been written upon,
but has been stored improperly. There are a couple of bends and
creases, and there is a 1 1/2" tear at the upper right hand
corner of the card. It has also been printed on a heavier card
stock, unlike the MAD subscription cards we see (or used to see)
today. Lot #43 - 1970 High School / College Term Paper About MAD Magazine (Issue #136) MB $5 Here's a unique
piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1970 by a student
name Mike Grieco, this is his Speech I class "Final Exam
Analysis" term paper. The subject of this analysis is MAD
Magazine, and he specifically targets MAD #136 in his findings. He
explains his viewpoints on Alfred E. Neuman, analyzes a few of the
features, and readily admits to "basically good artistry".
This paper is three (3) pages long, and is printed on a thin,
"onion-skin" type of paper. There is some yellowing and
light browning along the edges, otherwise this item is in Excellent
display condition. Lot #44 - MAD Magazine #447 w/ Front Cover Misprint (Color Bleed) RARE MB $5 Here's a rare piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2004 by E.C. Publications,
this is issue #447 of MAD Magazine. By all accounts, this is just a
normal issue of MAD. But, this particular issue was saved from the
scrap heap at the printing company. As you can tell, there is a
color bleed (yellow) on the front cover. The letters, "M",
"Geo Bu", and "Dr." are a nice solid yellow in
color, but the rest of the letters attached to those yellow letters
have bled to a cream color. This issue is in Excellent display
condition, with light edge wear, and a tiny corner crease on the
front cover. Lot #45 - Stabur Graphics Corporation New Product Catalog w/ MAD Magazine Stuff MB $10 Here's a rare piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the late 1980's by the
Stabur Corporation, this is their "New Product" catalog.
Back in the day, Stabur was known for producing high quality prints
and posters, featuring characters from the world of comics, cartoons,
and animation. This 70--page catalog is filled with those items, and
features character items from the likes of Disney, Hanna Barbera, MAD
Magazine, Looney Tunes, and a host of others. There are signed and
numbered prints, original art and drawings, animation art,
collectibles, and all sorts of other memorabilia listed for sale.
This catalog is in Excellent display condition, and some of the pages
do show some handling wear. Lot #46 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E Neuman Cover Print Signed By "Weird Al" Yankovic MB $10 Here's a cool piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 2010, this item is a
full-color print of "Weird Al" Yankovic and MAD Magazine's
Alfred E. Neuman. The original art for this print was drawn by MAD
Magazine artist, Tom Richmond, and was purchased by a friend of Mr.
Yankovic's, who then gave it to him for his 50th birthday. Prints
were then made of the art, and Mr. Yankovic signed them for fans who
requested a signed picture of him. Measuring approx. 8 1/2" by
11", this item is in Excellent display condition. Lot #47 - The Bad News Bears Original Lobby Card / MAD Magazine Parody Art Jack Davis MB $15 Here's a nice lot of
memorabilia for the Jack Davis collector. Produced in 1976 b7
Paramount Pictures Corporation, this lot contains an original lobby
card from the 1976 hit, The Bad News Bears. It measures approx.
103/8" by 13 1/4", and is in Excellent display condition,
with a couple of dog-eared corners. The other item is a print of a
piece of panel art from MAD #188. This art is from the MAD Magazine
parody of the same film, called "The Bad Mouth Bears".
This piece measures approx. 8 3/4" by 12 1/8", and is also
in Excellent display condition. For fans of Jack Davis art, this lot
is for you! Lot #48 - MAD Magazine Race Car Original Decal Sheet Jerry Toliver 1998 MB $5 Here's a cool MAD
Racing collectible. Produced in 1998 by Revell-Monogram, this is a
replacement decal set from the Jerry Toliver / MAD Firebird 1:24
scale model car. These replacement decal sets were sold in hobby and
toy stores for a short time, until Tolliver changed sponsorship and
he began driving a different car. This item measures approx. 6 1/4"
by 9", and is in Excellent display condition, with light storage
and handling wear. Lot #49 - Alfred E. Neuman Portrait Pre-MAD Image MB $5 Here's a cool piece
of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the late 1980's, this
item is a colored version of a pre-MAD image of MAD Magazine's
Alfred E. Neuman. This item measures approx 11 1/2" by 17 7/8",
with an image size of approx. 9" by 12", and is pencil and
colored pencil on paper. This very nicely done rendering of Alfred
would look beautiful framed, so don't miss out on the beauty! Lot #50 - Alfred E. Neuman Pinback Button MB $5 Here's a cool piece
of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the 2000's, this item is
an Alfred E. Neuman pinback button. Featuring Alfred E. Neuman on the
front, this item is a very well done item. It measures approx. 1 1/4"
in diameter, and appears to be unused. It is unlicensed, and is in
Excellent display condition. Lot #51 - Alfred E. Neuman "Spousal Unit" T-Shirt Pastor Chris Ferguson 1990's MB $25 Here's another cool
piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the 1990's, this
is a t-shirt that features an Alfred E. Neuman look-alike. This
t-shirt was produced to mock Chris Ferguson, a pastor from the United
Church of Canada, and the current general secretary of the World
Communion of Reformed Churches. I am not sure for what reason this
shirt was made, but the face of Alfred E. Neuman shines brightly
through. This shirt is an Adult size Extra-Large (XL), and appears
to be unused and in Mint condition. Lot #52 - Sealed MAD Magazine Staff Logo Pin 1991 Gold/Blue Version MB $20 This is a super rare
MAD Magazine cloisonne pin. Produced in 1991 for E.C. Publications,
this pin was originally planned to be a subscription premium
giveaway. But, a different color MAD logo pin (red/white) was chosen
instead. These blue/gold pins were still produced, but only in a
small batch. They were then given away to MAD staffers and
contributors. This pin is still sealed in its original bag, and is
unused and in Mint condition. From the collection of Annie Gaines
Ashton. Lot #53 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman "Gold" Cufflinks 1994 MB $30 Produced in 1994,
this lot contains a pair of Alfred E. Neuman cuff links. The Alfred
E. Neuman facial design on these cufflinks is identical to the 1994
Alfred E. Neuman cloisonne pin that was given away to readers who
submitted their MAD Magazine readership survey. But instead of a pin
backing, the cufflink backing was attached instead. And, the colored
enamel was not added. This pair of cufflinks is incredibly rare, as
they were only given to the MAD staff. These cufflinks are still
factory sealed individually in their plastic display bag, and are in
Mint condition. From the collection of Annie Gaines Ashton. Lot #54 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Vinyl Checkbook Cover 1996 MB $15 Here's a rare piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1996 by Liberty Check
Printers, this item is a MAD Magazine vinyl checkbook cover. This
item was released in 1996 along with a line of MAD Magazine paper
checks, but distribution was limited only to members of credit
unions. Because of that, this cover and the checks are rarely seen.
The paper checks (not included) had images of Spy vs. Spy, Snappy
Answers to Stupid Questions, and the cover art to issues 154, 211,
218, and 238. This particular checkbook cover is unused, and has
never been folded. It is in Mint condition. From the collection of
Annie Gaines Ashton. Lot #55 - The MAD World Of William M Gaines Hardcover Book Gaines File Copy MB $25 Here's a rare piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1973 by Lyle Stuart, this
is a first edition copy of The MAD World Of William M. Gaines
hardcover book. Most every MAD Magazine memorabilia collector has, or
should have, one of these in their collection. But, this one is
noteworthy, as it is a File Copy from the collection of Bill and
Annie Gaines. Gaines File Copies are famously known more for the
early EC comic books. But, Bill Gaines saved copies of his other
books as well, and this is one of them. I don't believe this book
has ever been read, as the spine is nice and tight, and I struggled
to get a picture of the images in the center of the book. There is
some light surface wear to the dust jacket, as well as some light
edge wear and chipping at the top of the front and back of the dust
jacket. There is also a small area of paper loss on the front, at
the lower right hand corner. I would guess that most of the wear to
the dustjacket occurred during simple storage and handling. From the
collection of Annie Gaines Ashton. Lot #56 - MADsterpieces / MAD Magazine Original Art Auction Catalog Sotheby's MB $10 Here's a cool piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1998 by Sotheby's Hoildings
Inc., this item is an auction catalog from the June 5, 1998 live
auction of MAD Magazine original art. Entitled, "MADsterpieces",
this auction catalog features works of art from the MAD Magazine
archives. This catalog contains most of the remaining pieces of MAD
Magazine original art in MAD's archives, after having first been sold
in the 1980's by Russ Cochran, in 1992 at Christies, and in 1995 at
the first Sotheby's auction. After this auction, the only pieces
that remained were the "Soul Of MAD" cover art, and those
pieces were sold at Heritage Auction House in 2008. This catalog
appears to be unused, and is in Excellent display condition. It
also comes with the original addenda sheet, which lists the updates
to the descriptions that were too late to add before the catalog went
to press. From the collection of Annie Gaines Ashton. Lot #57 - MAD For Keeps Hardcover Book Gaines File Copy MB $15 Here's a rare piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1960 by Crown Publishers,
this is a Sixth Printing of the MAD Magazine hardcover book, MAD For
Keeps. While not particularly difficult to find, this one is
noteworthy, as it is a File Copy from the collection of Bill and
Annie Gaines. Gaines File Copies are famously known more for the
early EC comic books. But, Bill Gaines saved copies of his other
books as well, and this is one of them. This book is not in Mint
condition by any stretch of the imagination, but it is still very
displayable. There is significant surface wear to the dustjacket,
with a large portion of the bottom edge worn away. There is also a
large tear at the top, that cuts through the title. Condition aside,
this book is still a Gaines File Copy, so that in itself gives it
great value. From the collection of Annie Gaines Ashton. Lot #58 - The Ridiculously Expensive MAD Book Factory Sealed Gaines File Copy MB $200 Here's another book
from the legendary Gaines File Copy collection. Published in 1969 by
the World Publishing Company, this is a first printing of the MAD
Magazine hardcover book, The Ridiculously Expensive MAD. This book
could be considered a "Super-Sized Super Special", as it
contains reprints from past issues of MAD Magazine. And, like the
annual editions of MAD, this book also includes bonus premiums. The
premiums included in this book are: MAD paperback book covers, MAD
stencils, a bumper sticker, a cardboard record, a MAD Mobile, and
some MAD Mischief Stickers. As this book is still factory sealed,
it is assumed that all of the bonuses (including the MAD Mobile
instruction sheet) are present. But, who's going to check and make
sure? Nobody in their right mind, that's for sure. From the
collection of Annie Gaines Ashton. Lot #59 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Nissan Safety Banner 1992 MB $100 Here's a new "Holy
Grail" of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1991 by E.C.
Publications and the Nissan Motor Company, this item is a banner
featuring the image of MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman. This banner
was used in an in-house safety campaign for Nissan, and was displayed
in selected dealerships across the country. These banners were
originally mounted on a sheet of PVC, and two mounting holes were
then drilled into the top and bottom of the sign. This particular
banner was never used, and is one of a few examples that were given
to MAD during the promotions run. This item is also the last
licensed item that Bill Gaines agreed to allow the use of the MAD
logo or the face of Alfred E. Neuman for. Measuring approx. 23 3/4"
by 33 1/4", this item is unused, and in Near Mint condition,
with just a hint of storage wear. It even has a small hint of
"plastic-y" smell to it. From the collection of an
anonymous member of the Usual Gang of Idiots. Lot #60 - Set Of Twenty-One (21) MAD Variant Cover Comic Books June 2014 MB $100 Here's a rare
collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2014 by DC
Comics, this is a set of twenty-one (21) DC comic books that have the
MAD variant cover. All of these titles were released in June of 2014,
and all feature Alfred E. Neuman on the front cover, with art by
artists like Tom Richmond, Rick Tulka, Sergio Aragones, Al Jaffee,
and Richard Williams, among others. Titles include The Flash,
Aquaman, Harley Quinn, the Green Lantern, and Nightwing, among a host
of others. These books are all bagged and boarded, and appear to be
unread. This is the complete set of MAD variants from 2014, and they
are all in Mint condition. The opening bid reflects the average cover
price for each book. From the collection of an anonymous member of
the Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #61 - MAD Magazine #521 / Game Of Thrones Issue w/ Withdrawn Fold-In RARE MB $100 Here's a super rare
piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2013 by E.C.
Publications, this is issue #521 of MAD Magazine. However, this
particular issue is a rarity, as it contains a "controversial"
Fold-In by Al Jaffee. The original Fold-In for this issue (as
pictured) was replaced due to assumed sensitivity issues around the
2012 Aurora, Colorado theater shooting. However, some feel that it
was pulled by DC to protect their brand, as the shooting occurred at
a theater showing a midnight screening of the Batman movie, The Dark
Knight Rises. Says the consignor, "Since it was subsequently printed in a 2019 issue, the initial pulling of it seems like it was more a business/timing matter, rather than anything having to do with taste or sensitivity issues on management's part." In
any event, a few of the pulled issues were saved, and this is one of
them. It shows light handling and storage wear, and is in Excellent
display condition. From the collection of an anonymous member of the
Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #62 - Complete Set Of Six (6) Hardee's Special Edition Mini MAD Magazines RARE MB $100 Here's a super rare
collection of MAD Magazine premiums. Published in 1989 by E.C.
Publications and Hardee's Food Systems, this is a complete set of six
(6) promotional MAD Magazines. These issues were given away to
customers at Hardee's fast food restaurants, with a special food and
beverage purchase. Each mini issue is eight (8) pages in length, and
contains all of your favorite MAD Magazine features, from Dave Berg's
"The Lighter Side Of...." and Don Martin, to Sergio
Aragones and Al Jaffee's Fold-In. Each issue is unread, and is in
Mint condition. From the collection of an anonymous member of the
Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #63 - Set Of Thirteen (13) MAD Variant Cover Comic Books June 2013 MB $100 Here's a rare
collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2013 by DC
Comics, this is a set of thirteen (13) DC comic books that have the
MAD variant cover. All of these titles were released in June of 2013,
and all (except for the Wonder Woman comic book) feature Alfred E.
Neuman on the front cover, with art by artists like Tom Richmond, Sam
Viviano, Sergio Aragones, Al Jaffee, and Richard Williams, among
others. Titles include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and
Supergirl, among a host of others. These books are all bagged and
boarded, and appear to be unread. This is the complete set of MAD
variants from 2013, and they are all in Mint condition. The opening
bid reflects the average cover price for each book. From the
collection of an anonymous member of the Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #64 - MAD Magazine #411 Color Cover Proof w/ Post Sept. 11 Cover RARE MB $100 Here's a super rare
piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2001 by E.C.
Publications, this is a full color cover proof from issue #411 of MAD
Magazine. However, this cover was never used for issue #411, as it
was deemed too controversial to use. This cover shows Alfred E.
Neuman crossing / breaking a "crime scene" tape, instead of
a finish line tape. But, in the wake immediately following the
September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, it was thought that this cover
was in bad taste. This piece is untrimmed, and features portions of
the "rainbow" of primary colors at the bottom. It measures
approx. 8 5/8" by 11 3/4" (folded), and is in Excellent
display condition. From the collection of an anonymous member of the
Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #65 - MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Beach Towel Who Needs You MB $75 This is one of the
rarest pieces of the "New Collectibles" category of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1989 by A La Carte / Saydah, this
is a MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman beach towel. It features Alfred
E. Neuman as Uncle Sam, with his famous slogan, "Who Needs You".
It measures approx. 30" by 60", and it appears to be
unused, and in Near Mint condition. The colors are still nice and
bright, and there is no fading at all. It is beautiful! From the
collection of an anonymous member of the Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #66 - MAD Magazine / Halloween Gift Pack Howling/Monster Paperback Booklets MB $75 Here's a rare piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1987 by Warner Books, this
is a collection of ten (10) MAD Magazine mini-booklets. These
booklets were produced for sale in a special gift pack, entitled,
"MAD Trick Or Treat Reading". This gift pack contained five
(5) mini copies of the Howling MAD paperback book, and five (5) mini
copies of the Monster MAD paperback book. This item is still factory
sealed, and is in Near Mint condition, with light storage and
handling wear. From the collection of an anonymous member of the
Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #67 - Alfred E. Neuman Folk Art Doll From The MAD Magazine Offices MB $75 Here's a cool piece
of MAD Magazine and Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Rather than trying
to describe it, the following is a verbatim text message from the
consignor: "...my recollection is that a West-Coast based MAD contributor was at a market or a fair, saw this item, and bought it to send to a New York MAD staffer as a gift. It was on display in MAD's offices for quite a while. It appears to be a one-of-a-kind piece of handmade, homemade MAD American folk art. I don't know if the hair is real or synthetic, and unless some or all of the clothing is commercially available doll clothing, that appears to be homemade too." Here's my
take: the face is printed onto the fabric. So, there are no
two-dimensional facial features (eye sockets, nose, lips, etc.). It
stands approx. 8" wide by 14" high, and is very well made.
From the collection of an anonymous member of the Usual Gang Of
Idiots. Lot #68 - MAD Kids Magazine Complete Set Of Fourteen (14) Issues 2005-2009 MB $75 Here's a cool
collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2005, 2006,
2007, 2008, and 2009 by E.C. Publications, this is the complete set
of fourteen (14) issues of MAD Kids magazine. MAD kids was aimed at
younger readers, and included brand new articles and features. Some
issues included extra bonuses, like posters and stickers, while
others had puzzles, games, and cartoons. Sergio Aragones, Duck
Edwing and Paul Coker Jr. are among the few "old school"
artists that were featured, and Spy vs. Spy Jr. also appears as a
regular feature. These issues appear to be unread, and are in Near
Mint condition, with light storage and handling wear. From the
collection of an anonymous member of the Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #69 - MAD Magazine 35th Anniversary Edition Wristwatch w/ Original Display Box MB $75 This is a rare piece
of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1987 for E.C. Publications
by Concepts Plus, this item is an Alfred E. Neuman wristwatch. This
watch is one of three (3) different styles produced by Concepts Plus,
and is by far the nicer of the three. This watch features a full
color Alfred E. Neuman image on the face of the watch (with his legs
serving as the hour and minute hands), and has a genuine pigskin
leather strap. The watch is housed in a protective "snap'-lock"
case, with the words, "Concepts Plus Inc." embossed in gold
color on the inside lid. This watch appears to be unused, and is in
Mint condition. From the collection of an anonymous member of the
Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #70 - Alfred E. Neuman Original Color Picture w/ C.O.A. 2017 MAD Wrap Party MB $15 Here's a rare piece
of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the 1980's (picture)
and 2017 (certificate) by E.C. Publications, this is an original
Alfred E. Neuman color picture with an original "Certificate Of
Authenticity". These two items were given away to attendees of
the 2017 MAD Magazine wrap party, which was held on Friday, October
6, 2017 at the Heartland Brewery in NYC's Empire State Building.
These items were part of a gift bag that was given to attendees,
which also included a Spy vs. Spy whoopee cushion, a MAD airsickness
bag, an Alfred E. Neuman paper coaster, a fortune cookie, and a MAD
diecast car. While preparing for MAD's impending move to California,
two boxes of these color pictures were discovered in a store room.
It was then decided that they were to be given away, with a special
COA produced. These two items appear to be unused, and are in Near
Mint condition, with ultra-light storage and handling wear. From the
collection of an anonymous member of the Usual Gang Of Idiots. Lot #71 - MAD Grooves Musical CD Set Of Three (3) Unopened Mint MB $15 Here's a cool
