Lot #1 - Spanish MAD Magazine
Super RARE Export Edition #15 Late 1960's
MB $30
Here's a super rare piece of
foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in the late 1960's
by Export Publications LTD., this item is issue #15 from the MAD
Spanish Language (En Espanol) Export edition. This edition of MAD
Magazine is not a foreign edition per se, but is rather a MAD
Magazine that has been published in the USA, then exported to
Spanish-speaking countries (mainly Mexico). I have also heard that
this edition was also sold in the USA, but in cities with large
Hispanic populations, like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. This
is issue #15 in the series, and issues 13, 14, 15 and 16 are the only
issues that have been accounted for. There has been no evidence or
appearance of issues 1-12, or any issues after #16. This particular
issue is in G/VG condition, with surface, corner, and edge wear.
This issue is one of the rarest "foreign" issues to find,
simply due to its scarcity.

Here's a rare piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2016 by E.C. Publications, this is
issue #538 of MAD Magazine. But what makes this issue special is that
there is a blank wraparound cover attached to it. MAD Magazine
released two (2) different issues with the blank variant wraparound
cover, and this is the first issue to have it. The other issue with
the blank cover is issue #543 (see Lot #24). This issue appears to be
unread, and is in Near Mint condition, with light storage and
handling wear. Either of the blank variant cover issues are very hard
to find, so don't miss out on this beauty!

by 11", this print was also produced in a larger poster size

This item was previously folded into fourths, and shows light
creasing by the folded seams. It is still in good display condition,
and would look wonderful framed.
Lot #5 - Orson Bean At The Hungry
Comedy LP w/ MAD Magazine Reprint Article MB $20
Here's a super rare piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1960 by Fantasy Records Inc. (Crown
Album Corp.), this is a 33 1/3 rpm comedy album from the late
comedian, television personality, and early MAD Magazine contributor,
Mr. Orson Bean. This record includes several of his hit stand-up
routines, and is an enjoyable comedic recording. But, what makes this
item desirable to MAD Magazine memorabilia collectors is the
appearance of a special 4-page insert that reprints one of Mr. Bean's
MAD Magazine contributions. Mr. Bean asked MAD for permission to
reprint his MAD article, and permission was granted, which resulted
in this insert. This 4-page insert is hardly ever seen when this
record is re-sold, and a recent eBay search showed eight (8) of these
albums for sale, but none had the insert included. This lot includes
the cardboard sleeve, the red vinyl record, the paper record sleeve,
and the MAD article insert. The MAD insert is in the best condition
of all of the items, and is in NM condition. Both the cardboard

also shows both the Black and White Spies from the popular MAD
Magazine feature, Spy vs. Spy, on the back. The inside flaps of the

also reference to MADMAG.com on the inside of the folder, so maybe
this was produced as a promotional item for that? In any event, this

This item measures approx. 9" by 12" (folded), and is
unused and in Mint condition.

you are getting. The three other issues are a mystery, and you won't
know what they are until you open the package up. It is assumed that
they are also from the same time period (2014-2016), but you just
can't be sure. The magazines contained inside this package are in
assumed Mint condition, while the outer wrapper is complete.

WAX were never sold on newsstands, but were distributed for free to
employees of Warner Brothers and other recording industry
professionals. This particular is the famous MAD Magazine parody
issue, which contains cover artwork by the late MAD Magazine cover
artist, Frank Kelly Freas. The WAX logo uses the familiar MAD
Magazine logo font, and the Table of Contents closely resembles the

MAD-style parody on the inside back cover. This issue has been read,
but is still in Excellent display condition.

were a few MAD artists in attendance, however, which included Mort
Drucker, Jack Davis and Bob Clarke, along with MAD Editor, Nick
Meglin. Measuring approx. 8 ½" by 11", this glossy

most representative of what MAD Magazine was all about. It was these
covers that were saved from the major MAD Magazine original art
auctions at Christies and Sotheby's auction houses in New York City
in the 1990's (but were later sold in their own MAD Magazine original
art auction at Heritage Auctions in Dallas). There are twelve prints

MAD's Don Martin Bounces Back. The complete set of Swedish MAD
paperback books numbers a total of 92, not including reprints. This
book is number 92 in the set, but strangely enough, it was never
released. The reason is because when Don Martin left MAD in 1987,
there would have been some legal entanglements in releasing any Don
Martin material for sale. So, even though the books were already
printed, they could not be sold. This is one of the surviving unsold
copies, and it is in Excellent display condition, with light storage
and handling wear.

beautiful early image of Alfred E. Neuman on the front. As an added
bonus, the image of Alfred still has the original red (faded) string
tie attached to his neck on the card. Two other versions of this card
also exist, but they have "Anniversary" and "Birthday"
greetings instead of a "Christmas" greeting. This item
measures approx. 4 1/2" by 6" (unfolded), and is in
terrific display condition, with light surface, corner and edge wear.
There are also hand written greetings on the front and inside of the
card. This card is also steel engraved, which also adds definition
to the image of Alfred.

different MAD paperback books. The titles of the books include:
Polyunsaturated MA, The Dirty Old MAD, Recycled MAD, The Non-Violent

books are original to the box, and it appears that all have been
read, some more than others. Overall, the box is in decent display
condition, with surface, corner and edge wear, and a small tear at
one corner. The books average VG-F condition. This is one of the
rarest MAD paperback boxed sets to find, so don't miss out!

postcards measure approx. 3 ½" by 5 ½", and
are unused. Both are in Excellent display condition.
PLEASE NOTE: The postcard shown on
the left is from an obscure little food diner called Oscar's
Lunch, from Two Harbors, Minnesota. I would bet that NOBODY has one
of these in their collections. Here you go!
Lot #45 - Pre-MAD Magazine /
Alfred E. Neuman Song Book w/ "Stage Jokes" Ad
MB $50
Here's a cool piece of pre-MAD
Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Published in the early

format humor publication called, "Pecks Bad Boy". This
item is twenty (20) pages in length, and contains pages of
one-liners, musical compositions, comedic stories, and
turn-of-the-century advertisements. This book is printed on
newsprint, so its condition is quite fragile. There is some page
separation from the top staple, and it is missing the back cover.
Besides the likeness of a pre-MAD Alfred E. Neuman on the front, an
advertisement for the "Stage Jokes" publication
(featuring a turn-of-the-century Alfred E. Neuman likeness), is shown
on the back.

appearance on the shirt, as the clock face on a ticking time bomb.
This shirt measures an Adult size extra-large (XL), and it appears to
be unworn. The silk screened colors still smell new, and this shirt
is in Excellent display condition. The only flaw is a tiny little
stain on the front, near the trademark (shown).
Lot #47 - Michael Lerner / MAD
Auction #5 Original Prices Realized List 1996
MB $5
Here's a cool piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1996 by MAD collector, Michael
Lerner, this is the prices realized list from his September 1996
(Auction #5) MAD Magazine memorabilia auction. This auction featured
some terrific pieces of MAD Magazine memorabilia, some of which were
introduced to the market for the very first time. Because of that,
some of the prices are surprisingly high. But that's the way
things were in the early days of the internet, without websites like
eBay to purchase any cool MAD stuff. This item is in decent display
condition, with a horizontal crease in the center and some light
hi-lighter markings on a few pages.

Neuman latex face mask. This mask was sold in gift shops and novelty
stores through the mid-to-late 1980's, but was not a very good
seller. This particular example appears to have never been worn,
and is supported by a gray styrofoam bust that has been placed
inside. There is no size listed, although I assume that it will fit
the head of any Adult. This mask is in Excellent display condition.

Book w/ Hardcover Library Binding MB
$50
Here's a rare piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Published in 1976 by Warner Books, this is a 4th

Normally, this book wouldn't really cause a ruckus, and could easily
be found on eBay for just a dollar or two. But, what makes this
particular book special is that it has a special library binding
attached to it. Typically, the front cover is removed, and the book
is glued into the hardcover binding. The front cover is then
re-attached to the hardcover front. This book was offered for rental
usage in the late 1970's at the Johnstown (PA.) Junior High School
Library, and the library stamp is shown on page 3. This book is in
Excellent display condition, although a thumb-tip size piece is
missing from Page Five.

images from all sorts of consumer products, from clothing and

MAD Magazine and Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia collectors is the
pre-MAD image of Alfred E. Neuman on the Happy Jack Beverage label.
It was this image that was included in Maria Reidelbach's book,
Completely MAD, which is where most MAD Magazine collectors first
laid eyes on it. This book shows signs of light storage and handling
wear, and is in Excellent display condition.
Lot #52 - Pre-MAD Alfred E. Neuman
Postcard Me Worry? Army Variation MB $10
Here's a cool piece of early
Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the 1950's by
Defiance, this is an early Alfred E. Neuman postcard. This postcard
features Alfred as an Army infantryman, with the artist signed as
"Blake". This postcard is more popularly seen with a
white background and a red/pink swirl border. This is a rarer
version without the border. This postcard has been postally used,
and has a postmark date of April 23, 1956. This postcard is in
Excellent display condition, with light storage and handling wear and
a light corner crease.

beginning with Don Martin Magazine, a publication which only lasted
three (3) issues. When the magazine didn't fare well, Mr.
Martin started reproducing his art on posters, limited edition
prints, coffee mugs, and clothing, among other things. This catalog
is filled with those items listed for sale. This catalog has been
looked at just once or twice, and is in Near Mint condition. The

has never been used, and measures approx. 7 1/4" by 10 1/2".
MAD Magazine rejection slips are virtually never seen, so don't miss
out on this rarity.

Magazine artists Don "Duck" Edwing and Dave Manak, this
is the original art for the Spy vs. Spy Sunday cartoon which appeared
in the August 25, 2002 edition of the Orlando Sentinel. Spy vs. Spy
was a short-lived syndicated cartoon strip created by Edwing and
Manak, and appeared in the Orlando Sentinel for just about one year.
The cartoon was pulled after it was learned that one of the Spies
always died at the end, which apparently is a no-no in newspaper
comics. In any event, this is one of the 39 cartoons that were
created for the series. This item has been matted, and was taken
from its frame to be sold in this auction. This item measures
approx. 14 ¼" by 30 ¾", and is in Excellent

rarity, as it contains a "controversial" Fold-In by Al
Jaffee. The original Fold-In for this issue (as pictured) was
replaced due to assumed sensitivity issues around the 2012 Aurora,
Colorado theater shooting. However, some feel that it was pulled by
DC to protect their brand, as the shooting occurred at a theater
showing a midnight screening of the Batman movie, The Dark Knight
Rises. In any event, a few of the pulled issues were saved, and this
is one of them. It shows light handling and storage wear, and is in
Excellent display condition. From the collection of an anonymous
member of the Usual Gang of Idiots.

Fitterman, this lot contains a pair of Alfred E. Neuman cuff links.
The Alfred E. Neuman facial design on these cufflinks is identical to
the 1994 Alfred E. Neuman cloisonne pin that was given away to
readers who submitted their MAD Magazine readership survey. But
instead of a pin backing, the cufflink backing was attached instead.
And, the colored enamel was not added. This pair of cufflinks is
incredibly rare, as they were only given to the MAD staff. These
cufflinks are still factory sealed individually in their plastic
display bag, and are in Mint condition. From the collection of an

Alfred E. Neuman, to various MAD Magazine news bits. Both issues
appear to be unread, and are in Excellent display condition, with
ultra-light storage and handling wear.
Lot #97 - Pre-MAD Magazine /
Alfred E. Neuman America And Peace Sticker RARE
MB $75
Here's a cool early piece of Alfred
E. Neuman memorabilia. Probably produced in the 1920's by The
Strobridge Litho Co., this is a sticker with an early likeness of MAD
Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman on the front. The words, "America
And Peace" are printed at the top of the sticker, with the
words, "I'm For Both!" appearing at the bottom. This
sticker is commonly known among MAD Magazine memorabilia collectors
as the "America For Peace" sticker, as that is how it is
described in the MAD collectors bible, Collectibly MAD. However, the
word "For" was mistakenly used in the description, as this
sticker clearly has the word "And" printed at the top. In
any event, this sticker measures approx. 1 3/4" by 2 1/4",
and is in Excellent display condition.
Lot #98 - MAD Magazine At Yale

to Yale University to celebrate its' 21st birthday. To commemorate
the event, there was a retrospective display of MAD Magazine original
art, as well as a panel discussion with members of the Usual Gang Of
Idiots. This tab pin is from the panel discussion and was given to
attendees at the event. This item measures approx. 1 ½"
in diameter, and is unused, with an unbent tab. There are some areas
of light soiling on the front and a few paint bubbles along the edge.
The back shows light scratches. It is in Excellent display condition
for being 50 years old.
Lot #99 - Totally MAD Paperback
Book Boxed Ballentine Books 1970's
Set MB $30
This is a cool collection of MAD

Books, this is a boxed set of five (5) different MAD Magazine pocket
books. The titles included in this set are: The MAD Reader, MAD
Strikes Back, Inside MAD, Utterly MAD, and The Brothers MAD, and
these books are 1970's reprints of the first five (5) MAD Magazine

all are later printings. The display box shows surface, corner and
edge wear, and some light color fading, but is still very
displayable. This boxed set is a rare "non-priced" variant, as there is no numbered price printed anywhere on the box.
Lot #100 - MAD Magazine Press Kit
Warner Consumer Products 1994
MB $75
Here's a rare piece of MAD Magazine
memorabilia. Produced in 1994 by Warner Consumer Products, this is a
MAD Magazine press kit. This kit was given away to prospective
licensees at various trade show and the like, to aid in the licensing
of MAD Magazine products and apparel. The inside features a pull-out
brochure shaped like a wad of cash, which lists manufacturers who
already had licensed MAD Magazine products in production (Kitchen
Sink Press, Lightrix, OSP Publishing, and Lime Rock International,
among others). This item appears to have looked at just a few times,
and is in Near Mint condition, with light storage and handling wear.
Lot #101 - MAD Magazine / Alfred
E. Neuman T-Shirt Original 1958 Version RARE MB
$900
Here's a super rare piece of
MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1958 by E.C. Publications, this
is the original Alfred E. Neuman / "What - Me Worry? I Read
MAD" t-shirt. This is the first ever MAD clothing premium, and
was introduced for sale in MAD #39. This shirt is in remarkably good
condition for its age, and it is also the first Adult sized original
t-shirt that I have seen. All of the other original MAD t-shirts I
have seen have been children's sizes. This shirt is complete,
with no holes or stains to speak of. The colors are just a tad faded
from their original hue, but that's about it. The size tag
indicates that this is an Adult size Medium, but after being washed a
few times, it appears to have shrunk to an Adult size Small. This is
a tough one, folks! Don't miss out!
Lot #102 - Puerto Rican MAD
Magazine Year 2 / #18 (#30 Overall) RARE
MB $200
Here's a super rare piece of foreign
MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in the early 1980's by
Publicaciones Internacionales S.A., this is issue #18 from Year 2
(#30 overall) of the Puerto Rican version of MAD Magazine. Any issues
from the Puerto Rican version of MAD Magazine are extremely tough to
find, mainly due to distribution. Each issue borrows interior artwork
from past issues of MAD, and the printed text in the world balloons
has been translated into Spanish. This particular issue is in VG
condition, with light surface, corner and edge wear. There is also a
light moisture stain on the front cover that runs from the middle of
the spine to the "M" in MAD. If you're missing a
Puerto Rican MAD in your collection, this is it!
Lot #103 - MAD Comic Book #1
Rare Canadian Version 1952 MB
$350
Here's a super rare piece of
MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1952 by Superior Publishers
LTD., this is the Canadian version of the EC / MAD Comic #1 . With
the exception of the advertisements, I believe this to be an exact
copy of the US MAD Comic #1. This issue appears to be in fair
condition, with significant surface, corner, and edge wear, edge
chipping, spine wear, and a ½" piece missing from the
upper right-hand corner of the front cover. This issue is complete,
and everything is still attached, but it is quite fragile. This is a
great example of the only foreign MAD #1 comic book that was ever
published. Don't miss out!
Lot #104 - 1908 Anitkamnia Tablet
Calendar w/ Early Alfred E. Neuman French Version MB $40
Here's a cool piece of pre-MAD /
Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Produced in 1907 by La Societe Chimique
D' Antikamnia, this is the French version of the American
Anitkamnia 1908 tablet calendar. This calendar is titled "Ca M'A
Pas Fait Mal" (It Didn't Hurt A Bit), and features an early
image of MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman on the front . In fact, this
same image of Alfred E. Neuman would be used the prior year by
Antikamnia, for the back of their 1907 tablet calendar. This calendar
measures approx. 7 3/4" by 10", and is in Excellent display
condition for being 115 years old. It shows surface, corner, and
edge wear, with some edge chipping on the painted side.
Lot #105 - Lot Of Four (4) Fanny

Here's something for the Sergio
Aragones fan. Published in 1965 and 1966 by Kanrom Inc., this lot
contains four (4) books that have been illustrated by MAD Magazine's
Sergio Aragones. These books are from the Fanny Hillman series, and
are part of a collection of four (4) different titles. This lot
contains three of the titles, with one duplicate title (a cover
variation). Three of the books contain illustrations by Mr.
Aragones, while the fourth book has pictures of a chimpanzee instead
of Aragones art. These books are all in Excellent display condition,
with storage and handling wear.
Lot #106 - 1960 MAD Magazine /
Alfred E. Neuman For President Campaign Kit Hat RARE MB $200
Here's a super rare piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1960 by E.C. Publications, this lot
contains the ultra rare painters hat from the 1960 Alfred E. Neuman
for President campaign kit. The 1960 Alfred E. Neuman campaign kit
was sold through the pages of MAD Magazine, and is the most difficult
of any of the Alfred E. Neuman for President campaign kits to find.
The kit included a poster, a pinback button, a door sign, a day-glo
bumper sticker, and a painters hat. This painters hat is the key
piece to this collection, as it is almost never seen. It is in
Excellent display condition, although it is wrinkled and lightly
crushed. But, it was mailed flat in 1960, so there's that.
This is probably the best example of this hat that I've seen,
and it would shine in your collection, with or without the other
pieces of the kit.
Lot #107 - Quebec / French
Canadian MAD Magazine #1, 12 1991-2 RARE
MB $50
This is a very cool piece of foreign
MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1991 and 1992 by Editions
Ludcom, this lot contains both the first and last issues from the
Quebec / French Canadian version of MAD Magazine. These issues mainly
contain reprints from the US version, but there is also some original
content from Canadian artists and writers. These issues are in VG/F
condition, with light surface, corner and edge wear, and some light
wear along the spine. The #12 issue also has a 1 ¼" tear
at the upper left-hand corner of the front cover. These issues are
relatively difficult to find, so don't miss out!
Lot #108 - MAD Magazine #411 Color
Cover Proof w/ Post Sept. 11 Cover RARE MB
$100
Here's a super rare piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2001 by E.C. Publications, this is
a full color cover proof from issue #411 of MAD Magazine. However,
this cover was never used for issue #411, as it was deemed too
controversial to use. This cover shows Alfred E. Neuman crossing /
breaking a "crime scene" tape, instead of a finish line
tape. But, in the wake immediately following the September 11, 2001
terrorist attacks, it was thought that this cover was in bad taste.
This piece is untrimmed, and features portions of the "rainbow"
of primary colors at the bottom. It measures approx. 8 5/8" by
11 3/4" (folded), and is in Excellent display condition. More
MAD E.S.P., indeed!
Lot #109 - 1984 Alfred E. Neuman
For President Campaign Kit w/ Letter, Bumper Sticker MB
$75
This is a cool Alfred E. Neuman for
President collectible. Produced in 1984 for E.C Publications, this
lot contains most of the paper items from the 1984 Alfred E. Neuman
for President campaign kit . The 1984 Alfred E. Neuman for President
campaign kit was technically not a MAD Magazine created item. It was
merely a group of people who came up with the idea, and MAD Magazine
endorsed them in their Letters Pages. The original kit included the
bumper sticker, mail-in ballot, t-shirt hangtag, t-shirt order form,
and the kit cover letter. This lot is missing the b/w mail in ballot.
And, the t-shirt hangtag is a full color reproduction. The t-shirt
is not included in this lot, but every piece in this lot is far rarer
than the t-shirt. All items shown are in Excellent display
condition, with just a hint of handling and storage wear.
Lot #110 - MAD Comic Book #6
1953 Rare Canadian Version CGC Slabbed
MB $350
Here's a super rare piece of
MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1953 by Superior Publishers
LTD., this is the Canadian version of the EC / MAD Comic #6 . With
the exception of the advertisements, I believe this to be an exact
copy of the US MAD Comic #6. This issue appears to be in fair/good
condition, with surface, corner, and edge wear, light edge chipping,
spine wear, and a tiny piece missing from the lower left-hand corner
of the back cover. This issue is encased in a strong plastic case,
so I have not held it in my hands to see the exact condition. But,
it's professionally graded at 3.5/10, so it can't be that
bad. Don't miss out!
Lot #111 - French MAD Magazine
Hardcover Book "La Fin De MAD" 1987
MB $15
Here's a cool piece of foreign MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1987 by Albin Michel S.A., this
item is a French MAD Magazine hardcover book. It is titled, "La
Fin De MAD", and features reprints from the popular 1950's EC /
MAD comic books. Among the stories published in this volume are
classics like, Dragged Net, Miltie of the Mounties, 3-Dimensions, and
The Raven, to name a few. These stories are reprinted in b/w, and are
printed in the French language. This book appears to have been read a
few times, and is in Excellent display condition, with light storage
and handling wear.
Lot #112 - MAD Magazine / Bill
Gaines Office Curtain Swatch 485 Madison Avenue Office MB
$25
Here's a unique piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Produced in the mid-1960's, this is an
original piece of fabric from the curtains that were hung in the
office of MAD Magazines founder, Mr. William M. Gaines. These
curtains were hung at the 485 Madison Avenue headquarters, and
remained there until MAD moved to the 1700 Broadway offices in 1993.
This piece measures approx. 6" by 6 ½", and is in
Excellent display condition. A signed letter of authenticity from
Annie Gaines is included in this lot, as well as a color photo of Mr.
Gaines with the curtains hanging in the background of the photo.
Lot #113 - The Complete MAD
Checklist #2 First Printing 1964 Fred von Bernewitz
MB $100
This is a hard to find piece of MAD
Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1964 by Fred von Bernewitz, this
is a first printing of the MAD Checklist #2. The MAD Checklists were
the brainchild of MAD & EC Comic fanatic, Mr. Fred von Bernewitz,
who began compiling the MAD Checklists at the age of 23. The purpose
of each MAD Checklist was to break down each issue of MAD Magazine by
article, as they appeared in the magazine. The artist and writer for
each article is listed, and on what page they would be found. An
online version of this idea can be found at MADCOVERSITE.COM. This
volume appears to have been looked at just a few times, and is in
Excellent display condition, with light storage and handling wear
Lot #114 - MAD Magazine / Alfred
E. Neuman Mardi-Gras Walkalong Costume 1960 MB $1250
Here's one of MAD Magazine
collecting's biggest "Holy Grails". Produced in
1960 by Collegeville Costumes, this is the Adult size Alfred E.
Neuman Mardi-Gras walk-along Halloween costume. The Adult would slip
into the costume from the bottom skirt, and slip the costume over
their body. The eye holes are in the hairline of Alfred's head,
immediately below the edge of the green hat. The face of Alfred is
that of a court jester, which makes sense since this is a Mardi Gras
costume. The costume itself (including the skirt) measures approx.
41" long, and is approx. 20" wide. The plastic face shows
some cracks and light splits, but the cloth skirt is in remarkably
good condition. In Collectibly MAD, it is noted that there might have
been a box included with the costume. In all actuality, this item was
sold with a removable hanger attached to it. Overall, this costume
would certainly be the Holy Grail piece of most MAD Magazine
memorabilia collections, and the opening bid reflects both the
scarcity and condition of this piece. As far as I know, less than ten
(10) of these are known to exist.

Excellent display condition. The price has been removed from each
side of the box, however.

#193 - Spanish MAD Magazine Super RARE Export Edition #14
Late 1960’s MB $50
Here’s
a super rare piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in
the late 1960’s by Export Publications LTD., this item is issue
#14 from the MAD Spanish Language (En Espanol) Export edition. This
edition of MAD Magazine is not a foreign edition per se, but is
rather a MAD Magazine that has been published in the USA, then
exported to Spanish-speaking countries (mainly Mexico). I have also
heard that this edition was also sold in the USA, but in cities with
large Hispanic populations, like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
This is issue #14 in the series, and issues 13, 14, 15 and 16 are the
only issues that have been accounted for. There has been no evidence
or appearance of issues 1-12, or any issues after #16. This
particular issue is in G/VG condition, with surface, corner, and edge
wear. This issue is one of the rarest “foreign” issues
to find, simply due to its scarcity.

Clarke and Jack Davis (among others), this item was probably the best
thing about the candy. This item is in beautiful display condition,
and not only are all 24 of the boxes factory sealed, but the display
box is factory sealed as well.

the existence of the original storage box for the costume. The box is

is a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1994 by
Thunder’s Mouth Press, this is an "uncorrected advance

uncorrected proof is basically a bound collection of photocopies of
the pages of the book, with margin notes and post-it stickers placed
on top of photographs to mark their place in the book. It is rather
cool, actually. It's even better when you compare the proof to the

Lot
#233 - Al Feldstein / Alfred E. Neuman Poster / Print
2000’s RARE MB $50
Here’s
a super cool piece of MAD Magazine and Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia.
Produced in the 2000’s by the late editor of MAD Magazine, Mr.
Al Feldstein, this is a color poster print of a painting he created
of MAD Magazine’s cover boy, Alfred E. Neuman. Mr. Feldstein
rarely contributed any of his art skills to MAD Magazine, as he
already had a wealth of talented artists working for him. The only
art I can remember that he drew for MAD was the Alfred E. Neuman
Pop-Art bonus poster, from More Trash From MAD #8. In any event,
this item is beautiful, and would look great hanging in a frame on
your wall. It measures approx. 11” by 17”, and is in
Excellent display condition, with just a hint of storage and handling
wear. From the collection of Al Feldstein.
Lot
#234 - A History of Underground Comics Original B/W

Gilbert Shelton, to Denis Kitchen and S. Clay Wilson. The book also
reprints images from the early MAD comic books edited by Harvey
Kurtzman, and also contains images from the early EC comic books.
This lot contains a b/w cover proof, featuring all sorts of
underground cartoon characters, from the Yellow Kid to Honey Bunch
Kaminsky. Alfred E. Neuman even makes an appearance on the front
cover (middle picture, near the upper right-hand corner). This item
measures approx. 8” by 11 ¼", and is in Excellent
display condition. From the collection of Al Feldstein.

Issue 1990 MB $250
Here's
a super rare piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in
1990 by Rock Communications, this is the first, premiere, #1 issue
from the Chinese / Taiwan version of MAD Magazine. The Chinese
version of MAD Magazine lasted only six (6) issues, and all of the
issues are very difficult to find. Each issue borrows interior
artwork from past issues of MAD, and the printed text in the world
balloons has been replaced by Chinese symbols. Issues 1, 3, 5, and 6
also have original cover art . This particular issue has been read,
and is in G/VG condition, with surface, corner and edge wear.

#237 - British MAD Magazine Original T-Shirt
1980’s RARE MB $25
Here’s
a super cool piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in
the 1980’s by Suron Enterprises L.T.D., this item is a t-shirt
from the British version of MAD Magazine. This t-shirt was never
sold in stores, rather it was sold in the Letters Page of the British
MAD. I’m not sure how many shirts were made or how many were
sold. But it is a super cool item, and is one of two or three
foreign MAD t-shirts that were ever produced. This item is an Adult
size Large, and is in Excellent display condition, with just a slight
amount of wear.
Lot
#238 - Swedish MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman Plastic
Clothes Hanger 1970’s MB $225
Here’s
an incredibly rare piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia.
Produced in the 1970’s for Williams Forlag AB, this is a
Swedish MAD Magazine plastic hanger. This hanger was produced in
tandem with a Swedish Alfred E. Neuman t-shirt, and the two were sold
together as a set back in the mid-1970's. Of course, a plastic
hanger would conceivably last longer than a thin cloth shirt, so
while I have seen and owned two of these plastic hangers in my
lifetime, I have never owned the shirt that goes with this hanger
(although I was outbid on one on Tradera last year). This item
measures approx. 15 ¼" by 15 ½", and is in
Excellent display condition, with light surface soiling and a light
scratch in Alfred's hairline.
Lot
#239 - The New York Times Magazine July 31, 1977 Edition w/
The MAD Generation MB $30
Here’s
a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1977 by the
New York Times, this is the July 31, 1977 color supplement of the New
York Times Magazine. This item is extremely difficult to find, as
it contains a feature article called, The MAD Generation. This
article is six (6) pages is length, and celebrates MAD’s 25
year anniversary. An added bonus to this article is the appearance
of Alfred E. Neuman as the Pied Piper, which was drawn exclusively
for this article. Although the issue is quite fragile, this item is
a must-have in any serious MAD Magazine memorabilia collection. This
issue is complete, but there are several instances of light page
tears, especially in the area where the magazine was folded at one
time.
Lot
#240 - South African MAD Magazines Collection Of Three (3)
Different 1994 / 2001 MB $60
Here’s
a cool collection of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in
1994 and 2001 by S.A. Magazine Co. (Pty) L.T.D, this is a collection
of three (3) different issues from the South African version of MAD
Magazine. Each issue features reprints from older issues of the US
MAD, with no original content from South African artists or writers.
The issues included in this lot are numbers 325, 327, and 382. Issue
#382 is noteworthy, as it is the only issue of MAD Magazine (foreign
or domestic) that used the original pulled cover after the September
11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center (see Lot #108). These
issues show light areas of surface, corner and edge wear, and are in
Excellent display condition.

Lot
#242 - Harpers Weekly - A Journal Of Civilization 1871
Used On MAD Cover #25 MB $125
Here’s
an incredibly rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in
1871 by Harper & Brothers, this is issue #769 of Harpers Weekly.
Harpers Weekly began publishing in 1856, just 5 years before the
start of the US Civil War. This issue was published in 1871, just 6
years after the war. So, this item is over 150 years old! Anyway,
this issue contains the image that was used on the front cover of MAD
Magazine #25. It was drawn by Thomas Nast, and depicts the infamous
New York City politician, Boss Tweed, as a vulture waiting to feed.
Says Wikipedia about this picture: “A Group of Vultures
Waiting for the Storm to "Blow Over"—"Let Us
Prey." by Thomas Nast, Harper's Weekly newspaper, September 23,
1871. "Boss" Tweed and members of his ring, Peter B.
Sweeny, Richard B. Connolly, and A. Oakey Hall, weathering a violent
storm on a ledge with the picked-over remains of New York City”.
This image is found on the inside of this issue, and it is quite
breathtaking. This issue is not the kind of newspaper that you can
open up and read all of the time. I think you have to create a plan
to display this cartoon image (like having it professionally framed),
or don’t open it at all. The entire newspaper might
disintegrate if you handle it without kid gloves. Honest. This
could even be considered the oldest piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia
in existence.
Lot
#243 - Screwball / A MAD MAD Game Unlicensed 1960 Transogram MB $30
Here’s
a cool piece of unlicensed MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1960
by the Transogram Corp., this is the revised edition of the Screwball
board game. The first edition of this board game featured a full
likeness of Alfred E. Neuman on the front, along with three (3) MADs.
After MAD Magazine objected to the box cover art, one of the MADs was
removed, a microphone was placed in front of the character's mouth
(to hide the missing tooth), and the word “Screwball” was
enlarged. No changes were made to the game board, playing pieces, or
instructions. This is one of the earliest unlicensed pieces of MAD
Magazine memorabilia, because in 1960, the popularity of MAD Magazine
was skyrocketing, and people wanted to cash in on the craze. This
item is complete, with no missing pieces, and is in wonderful display
condition.
Lot
#244 – MAD Magazine / MAD For Keeps Hardcover Book Fifth
Printing MB $20
Here's
a rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1960 by Crown
Publishers, this is a Fifth Printing of the MAD Magazine hardcover
book, MAD For Keeps. While not particularly difficult to find, this
book is an enjoyable read, being that it is the first ever hardcover
collection of MAD Magazine reprints. This book is not in Mint
condition by any stretch of the imagination, but it is still very
displayable. The only real problem lies with the dust jacket, which
shows surface, corner and edge wear and edge chipping.
Lot

up in a tree. Measuring approx. 16” by 20”, this poster
is unused, and in Near Mint condition, with ultra-light storage and
handling wear. These were printed in a very limited quantity, so
don’t miss out.
Lot
#246 - MAD Magazine #350 Sealed Polybagged Issue w/ MAD Bytes It
Diskette 1996 MB $5
Here’s
a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1996 by E.C.
Publications, this is issue #350 of MAD Magazine. This issue is
special because it has been sealed in a plastic MAD Magazine logo bag
with the MAD Bytes It diskette. These were to be sold on newsstand
shelves (and they were), but some distributors opened up the bags and
took the magazines out. The diskette is just about as thick as the
magazine, which meant that instead of displaying twelve (12) issues
on the rack, they could only display six (6). The diskette and
magazine are both in assumed Mint condition, and in Excellent display
condition.
Lot
#247 - Alfred E. Neuman Unlicensed Jewelry 1993 Winky & Dutch MB
$75

different pieces of cheap jewelry, featuring the grinning mug of
Alfred E. Neuman. The pieces in this set include an adjustable metal
ring, a pair of cufflinks, and a metal money clip. Each piece has a
“Norman Mingo” Alfred E. Neuman face on it, and each has
a copyright date of 1993 on it. All three pieces have been attached
to their each individual display card, although the cuff links have
been taped on, rather than attached through holes in the card. The
display cards measure approx. 3 ½" by 5 ½",
and all three pieces are in Excellent display condition, with light
storage and handling wear. The card with the ring attached to it does
show a light crease, however.

Burbank edition of MAD Magazine. What makes this issue special is
that it has a bonus issue of PLOP! attached inside. These issues were
produced in a limited edition, and are rather difficult to find. This
particular issue appears to be unread, and is in Excellent display
condition.

and front of this bag is identical, and features Alfred E. Neuman and
the MAD Magazine logo. This bag measures approx. 15” by 17 ¾",
and is in Excellent display condition. It has been folded, so there
is evidence of some creasing as well.
Lot

premiere, #1 issue from the Second edition of the Italian version of
MAD Magazine, as well as issues 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. These issues

original content from Italian artists and writers. Most of these
issues range between VG and Fine condition, with most of them showing
surface, corner and edge wear, and some light wear along the spine.
On the plus side, this is an instant collection of some of the more
difficult foreign editions of MAD to find and would be an asset in
any foreign MAD Magazine collection. PLEASE NOTE: Issues 5 and 6 are
a combined Double Issue. They are not individual issues.
Lot #251 - Mark
J. Cohen Catalog Of Original Cartoon Art Volume Set Of Two (2)
w/ Letter MB $10
Here's a unique
collection of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1995 by Mark J.
Cohen, this lot contains two (2) catalogs of original comic and
cartoon art. Mr. Cohen was a noted cartoon art collector and
historian, and is famously known as the MAD Magazine original art
collector who toured the country, showcasing his MAD Magazine
original art collection at various venues across the USA. In his
spare time, he also collected other pieces of comic and cartoon art,
and represented various artists in the sale of their works. These
catalogs represent just a small offering of what these artists had
available for sale, and includes pieces from some of America's most
popular cartoonists, like Tom Armstrong, Bil Keane, Mike Luckovich,
and Walt Kelly. MAD Magazine artist clients include those like Sergio
Aragones, Dave Berg, John Caldwell and Al Jaffee, to name a few. Each
artist is represented with at least one drawing, and prices are
included as well. This lot also includes his cartoonist client list,
as well as a hand-signed letter to the consignor. In Excellent
display condition.
Lot #252 -
Dynamite Magazine #47 w/ MAD Magazine Article Newsstand &
Subscription MB $5
Published in 1978
by Scholastic Magazines Inc., this lot contains two (2) different
issues of Dynamite Magazine #47. Each of the issues feature Alfred E.
Neuman on the front cover, and each has an article about MAD Magazine
on the inside. But for those collectors who collect cover variances,
these are for you. The difference is that the subscription copy has
Vol. 1 No. 10 at the upper left hand corner, with the word “April”
printed in the upper right hand corner. It also obviously has a
mailing label on the front. The true issue #47 has TV3925 printed at
the upper left hand corner, with No. 47 printed in the upper right
hand corner. Both issues have been read, but each are in decent
display condition. While it might seem I’m splitting hairs
with these, there are completist collectors (like me) who love this
sort of thing. To all of the completist MAD collectors out
there.............You’re Welcome!!!

E.C. Comics. These advertisements originally appeared in a few of
the other titles in the EC comic book line, and were later reprinted
in larger form in the Russ Cochran / EC Comic bound volumes from the
1980’s. These might be proofs from those hardcover volumes, as
they are approximately the same size, but I can’t be sure. In

hanging on your wall. Each measures approx. 11” by 14 ¼"

would still look great framed.

is that the title is spelled "G-A-S", instead of "M-A-D".
That is because the word "GAS" is the literal translation
of the word "MAD" in the Danish language. In fact, the
first thirteen (13) issues of the Danish MAD had the word "GAS"
printed on the front cover, as the title was slowly converted to read
"MAD" instead. This issue is in VG condition, with light
surface, corner and edge wear. It is in beautiful display condition.
