ask before the night of the auction. I want to make sure you know
EXACTLY what you are bidding on.
-
The placing of a bid is an Agreement to Purchase, indicating that you
agree to the above listed Terms and Conditions.
-
This auction features a few consignments from some foreign MAD
Magazine memorabilia collectors, and I want to thank them for their
participation. Also, most of the items in this auction come from the
estate of the late MAD Magazine memorabilia collector, Mr. Andrew
Flint. Although I had never personally met Mr. Flint, he was an
active bidder in my MAD telephone auctions in the late 1990's, and in
the first couple auctions i had in 2016 and 2017. He also bought
some MAD items from me on eBay as well. Rest in peace, my friend.
-
Thanks again to Doug Gilford, who not only hosts the catalog on his
fabulous website, but also takes the time to proofread my catalog
files and re-assemble them on his website. Thank you, Doug!
-
Lastly, I wish to apologize for the photos that have an annoying gray
spot in them. If a gray spot appears in a photo, it's left of center
and up a little bit. That gray spot DOES NOT appear on the item. I
thinks it's a piece of schmutz inside the lens of my digital camera.
Sorry.
Good
Luck, and Happy Bidding!
MADly,
Tim

Unopened MB $10
Here
is a rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Manufactured in 1987 by
Imagineering, this is a MAD Magazine / Alfred E. Neuman disguise kit.
The distribution for this item wasn’t necessarily the best, so
while some parts of the USA enjoyed seeing these in stores, other
parts of the country never knew this item even existed. When several
of these kits were returned unsold, the company repackaged the ears
included in the kit, and marketed them as Alfred Ears. Later in the

Here's
a cool piece of early Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Probably

as the text printed underneath the Alfred E. Neuman image. In fact,
the company that made this poster also made a "What - Me Worry"
poster at the same time as this one. This poster has been printed on
heavy stock card paper, and is in decent display condition, with some
browning and yellowing, edge and corner dings, sone light water
stains, and a pinhole in the center (about 1 1/2" from the top).

#54 - Spanish MAD Magazine Super RARE Export Edition #14
Late 1960's MB $30
Here's
a super rare piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in
the late 1960's by Export Publications LTD., this item is issue #14
from the MAD Spanish Language (En Espanol) Export edition. This
edition of MAD Magazine is not a foreign edition per se, but is
rather a MAD Magazine that has been published in the USA, then
exported to Spanish-speaking countries (mainly Mexico). I have also
heard that this edition was also sold in the USA, but in cities with
large Hispanic populations, like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
This is issue #14 in the series, and issues 13, 14, 15 and 16 are the
only issues that have been accounted for. There has been no evidence
or appearance of issues 1-12, or any issues after #16. This
particular issue is in G/VG condition, with surface, corner, and edge

a cool piece of Sergio Aragones memorabilia. Published in 1987 by
EPIC Comics, this is a First Printing of the trade paperback book,
The Death Of GROO. GROO is a comic book character developed by MAD

Magazine. In any event, the inside front cover of this book contains
an illustration of the late MAD Magazine editor, Mr. Nick Meglin, and
shows Mr. Meglin threatening GROO with a tennis racket. It has also
been signed by Mr. Aragones, with the message: To Nick El Hermano

E. Neuman MB $20
Here's
a super cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1994 by
E. C. Publications, this is a full color page of fantasy MAD Magazine
memorabilia. I assume this color page has been taken from the MAD
Style Guide and then framed. I cannot confirm this, however, as the
Style Guide that I own does not have this page included. In any
event, this piece is very cool, as it shows various pieces of
merchandise that would be a good fit in the scheme of MAD Magazine
and Alfred E. Neuman. This item has been placed into a frame for
protection, and can easily be removed. This piece measures approx.
11" by 16 1/2", and is in Excellent display condition, with

a cool piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1974 by Warner
Paperback Library, this is a MAD Magazine paperback book. Entitled,
Clod's Letters To MAD, this book is the larger "digest"

this book has ever been read, as the spine is nice and tight, and the
book has just a hint of handling and storage wear. If this book was
on display on a retail book shelf, you could not tell that it was 50
years old. It looks brand new.

#105 - Sergio Aragones Photographic Poster Print 1965
RARE MB $20
Here's
an obscure piece of Sergio Aragones memorabilia. Produced in 1965,
this is a photographic print of a piece of art Sergio Aragones drew
in March of 1965. I am not sure for which publication he drew this
for, as MAD does not give him any artist credit for that time frame.
I'm thinking it could be from a Mexican publication, as most of the
legible text in the art is in Spanish. Who knows? In any event,
this item is very unique, and is most likely one-of-a-kind. This
item measures approx. 12 1/4" by 17 1/4", and is very
tightly rolled. Because it is printed on heavy bond photograph
paper, the edges show several teeny tears/nicks. There are also
bends and creases at the corners, and a 2" tear near the upper
left hand corned that has been repaired with white tape (on the
back).

Pathtag 81/150 MB $5
Here's
a unique piece of MAD Magazine and Spy vs. Spy memorabilia. Produced

collectible pathtag. Pathtags are custom-designed metal tags
produced for Geocaching. Geocaching is an outdoor recreational
activity in which participants use a GPS receiver or mobile device in
order to hide and seek containers (called geocaches or caches) at
specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. The MAD
Museum produced and minted several different MAD Magazine themed
pathtags, and this is one of the different styles. This pathtag
features the Black and White Spies on the front, as well as a
large-breasted Gray spy. This pathtag measures approx. 1" in
diameter, and is numbered 81 out of the set of 150 produced. This

#117 - MAD Grooves Store Display Sign Rhino Records
1996 Ultra Rare MB $50
Here's
a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1996 by
Rhino Records for E.C. Publications, this is a cardboard display sign
for MAD Grooves. MAD Grooves is a compilation of songs taken from the
MAD record albums from the early 1960's, the MAD Show album from the
mid-1960's, and songs from the paper and plastic record bonuses found
in the annual MAD Super Specials. This display sign was given away
to music stores in selected areas of the USA, and is very difficult
to find. The main part of the display (top of Alfred's head to the
bottom of the white background) measures approx. 11 1/8" tall,
with a width of approx. 5 7/8". This item has been folded to
show the basic shape of the display when assembled, so technically it
is not yet assembled. There is an attached, but unpeeled, glue strip
to complete the assembly, if you wish to do so. This item is very
difficult to obtain, and could be considered a modern day, MAD "Holy
Grail". This is one of eight (8) displays known to exist.

1990's RARE MB $30
Here's
a unique piece of MAD Magazine clothing. Probably produced in the
1990's, this is a sports jersey featuring MAD Magazine's Alfred E.
Neuman on the front. The reason I say "sports" jersey is
that I couldn't tell you if it was made for football or hockey. It's
made from 100% mesh polyester, and is probably a size 2XL, or a size
XL with room for shoulder pads. Although there is not a copyright
year shown, the image on the front of the shirt is shown as an
approved licensed image from the MAD Style Guide. This item is in
Excellent display condition, with a few small areas of pilling on the

#123 - Alfred E. Neuman Poster Pre-MAD Image Late
1960's RARE MB $15
Here's
a cool piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Produced in the late
1960's by AA Sales, Inc. out of Seattle, this is an Alfred E. Neuman
poster. This poster features a pre-MAD image of Alfred E. Neuman, and
this poster uses the copyrighted image that was owned by Stuff &
Wilson. If you recall, this image was part of a copyright
infringement case against MAD in the 1960's, by the wife of Mr.
Stuff. The case was overturned, as it was discovered that Mrs. Stuff
failed to protect the copyright of Alfred's image when other
publishers tried to borrow or use the image. AA Sales also produced
the flocked color poster of Alfred E. Neuman, but this is the first
time I have ever seen this b/w version. This poster is quite large,
and measures approx. 23" by 35". A Swedish MAD paperback
book is also shown in the first photo, for size comparison only. It
is not included in this auction. This poster shows light browning,
and several small tears and creases along the corners and edges.
And, there is also a 5" tear at the top that has been repaired
with clear tape on the back. If framed correctly, those edge defects
would probably not be seen.

by the Shadow Puppet Brewing Company out of Livermore, California,
this is a four-pack of sealed cans of their Liver Moron IPA (India

the unauthorized use of Alfred E. Neuman on the front of the cans.
Proceeds from the sale of this IPA went to benefit the Alameda County
Community Food Bank, and although this IPA was canned in 2022, it is
still probably fit to drink. But I probably wouldn't. Each of these
cans are full, and still factory sealed. The black plastic cap to

#151 - Danish / Denmark MAD Magazine Board Game 1983
RARE MB $10
This
is a cool piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 1983
by Brio Scanditoy A/S, this is the Danish version of the popular MAD
Magazine board game. Back in 1979, Parker Brothers released the MAD
Magazine board game to rave reviews. In fact, it quickly became the
second best-selling game for Parker Brothers, behind Monopoly. In any
case, this is the 1983 Danish version, and it is very cool. The only
thing different between the US version and the Danish version is
obviously the text printed on the game board and box. But it is
kinda cool looking at that game board that contains words that you
can't read. This game has been played just a few times, and is in
Excellent display condition.

your favorite MAD Magazine artists, but does not have the pre-printed
signatures of the artists on it. After these proofs were printed and
examined, it was determined that adding copies of the artists
signatures would be a better idea, so these proofs were scrapped and
new posters were produced that included copies of the artist
signatures. The size of the poster was also made smaller. This
poster measures approx. 8" by 17", and is in Excellent

#189 - MAD Panic Fanzine Set of Thirteen (13) Pinback Buttons
2002 MB $30
Here's
a cool lot of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Produced in 2002 by
publisher, Ed Norris, this lot contains thirteen (13) promotional
pinback buttons from the MAD Magazine fanzine, The MAD Panic. The MAD
Panic was a bi-monthly fanzine and was normally twelve (12) pages in
length. It covered a variety of topics in the world of MAD Magazine,
from recent MAD collectibles and early appearances of Alfred E.
Neuman, to MAD Magazine news bits and a MAD Magazine collectors
registry. Back in the early 2000’s, Mr. Norris had the bright
idea of producing a set of pinback buttons, with each one featuring a
different reproduced cover of the MAD Panic. He started selling them
in sets of three (with two different sets offered each issue),
beginning with Issue #62 (March 2001), and ending with Issue #71
(September 2002). This lot contains a fraction of the complete set,
along with a color MAD Panic logo pinback. Sadly, the MAD Panic
folded after Issue #71, so no further pinbacks were produced. Because
of this, some of the covers are missing, as Mr. Norris chose the
covers randomly. And each set was produced by the number of orders
received, so there were no extras made. These pins measure approx. 2
¼" in diameter, and are in Excellent display condition.

Here's
a rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1994 by E.C.

Super Special #100). What makes this issue special is that the MAD
Morphs bonus that was supposed to be attached inside the magazine was
never attached. Instead, the bonus was placed inside a polybag along
with the issue, and then sold. This particular polybagged issue is
incredibly difficult to find, especially since almost all of the
Collectors Series #9 issues already had their bonuses attached, and
those were the issues that were distributed to the retailers and
sold. This item is still factory sealed and is in Excellent display
condition.

Issue 2002 MB $30
This
is a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2002
by E.C. Publications, this is a special edition of MAD Magazine.
This issue was marketed and sold in a boxed set of action figures
that contained an Alfred E. Neuman action figure, plus the Black and
White Spy action figures. This issue was included in the back of the
boxed set. This issue is known as the "50 Years Of Stupidity"
special edition of MAD, as it was published 50 years after MAD #1 was
published. For some reason, this is the hardest MAD Magazine
special edition issue to find. Maybe it's because of poor
distribution. Maybe it's because nobody wants to break up their set,
or even open the box up. In any event, this issue comes from an
opened box, and it is in Excellent display condition. The third
photo shows an issue like this in it's original box. It is for
visual reference only, and is not included in this auction.
