This
is a very cool (and very rare) foreign MAD Magazine first issue.

first, premiere, #1 issue from the Danish version of MAD Magazine.
What makes this issue extra special is that the title is spelled
"G-A-S", instead of "M-A-D". That is because the
word "GAS" is the literal translation of the word "MAD"
in the Danish language. In fact, the first thirteen (13) issues of
the Danish MAD had the word "GAS" printed on the front
cover, as the title was slowly converted to read "MAD"
instead. This issue is in decent display condition, with surface,
corner and edge wear, and a light horizontal crease across the front.

an obscure lot of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Produced in 2024 by
Magic Marker Art, this is a set of two (2) trading cards from the
Slop Culture Kids - Series Two trading card set. There are ninety
(90) cards in the set, and these two cards have references to MAD
Magazin's Alfred E. Neuman. The characters look the same n each
card, but one is nmaed Mika Worry?, while the other is named Absurd
Alfred. The characters on these cards show very little resemblence
to Alfred E. Neuman, except for the top of the face (from the ears on
up). These cards are a unique novelty for the MAD Magazine
memorabilia collector, and are unused and in Mint condition.

#131 - Alfred E. Neuman / Ronnie Vietnam Era Coffee Mug
RARE MB $25
Here's
a rare piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Probably produced in
the 1960's, this is a ceramic coffee cup that shows a likeness of MAD
Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman. The other side of the cup shows an
Oriental landscape scene, which leads me to believe this cup is from
the Vietnam War era. There have been pieces of Vietnam War-era
clothing with patches of Alfred E. Neuman sewn onto them, so it
speaks volumes that he was a part of the Vietnam War culture among
the fighting men. I would guess that this mug belonged to a service
member named Ronnie, and was given to him at a veterans gathering.
It is in Excellent display condition.
Lot
#132 - 1950's Color Photographic Slide w/ Alfred E. Neuman
Figure In A Parade MB $5
Here's
an obscure piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Probably produced
in the 1950's, this is a color photographic slide taken on a parade
route. But the main image in the picture is a large (probably
paper-mache) figure of MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman. It is shown
sitting on a trailer, while being pulled by a car. Judging from the
height of the car and trailer bed, this Alfred E. Neuman figure has
to be at least 10 feet tall. It is difficult to get a decent, clear
image from a color slide when you don't have the right tools, but
these are the best I could do. This is a very unique piece of early
MAD Magazine memorabilia, so don't miss out.
Lot
#133 - Grateful Dead Inspired T-Shirt w/ Alfred E. Neuman
Unique MB $10
Here's
a unique piece of Alfred E. Neuman memorabilia. Probably produced in
the 1990's, this is a unique t-shirt that features likenesses of
Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and Alfred E. Neuman. This shirt shows
three characters rowing a boat (with a Capitol rotunda as the top) in
shark-infested waters. The words printed on the shirt, "Don't
Lend Your Hand To Raise No Flag Atop No Ship Of Fools" is a
lyric from a 1974 Grateful Dead song called, Ship Of Fools. The
Reagan, Bush, and Alfred faces are very cartoony, and I can't believe
that these were made in a very large batch. This shirt has been worn
and laundered several times, but is still in decent display
condition, with a 1 1/2" tear on the rotunda. It is an Adult
size Large.

#158 - Sock It To Me, Daddy O'! Swedish Paperback Book w/ Alfred
E. Neuman MB $15
Here's
a cool piece of foreign MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 1970
by Bokforlaget PAN, this is a First Printing of the Swedish paperback
book, "Sock It To Me, Daddy O'". This book is a collection
of humorous stories, written by the first editor of the Swedish MAD
Magazine, Mr. Lasse O' Mansson. Personally, I cannot read or write
the Swedish language, save for a few words I've remembered from
looking at hundreds of Swedish MAD Magazines over the years. So, I
enlisted the help of a Swedish MAD Magazine memorabilia collector
named Per Lindgren for his take on the book. He said, "That
looks like typical examples of Lasse O'Månsson's humor. He had
a very relaxed way of putting the words (as well as using slang and
his own spelling of some words) to emphasize his zany humor".
When I mentioned that I recognized the months of February and
November in the text, he added, "It seems like page 7 to 52 is
one year. The headline for page 7 translates to "The typical
Swedish year". The next one is "A new year", and the
one after that "Wintertime". On page 25 we find "On
the beach". The last one, on page 50, is called "Letters
to Santa Claus"." So there you have it. There is no
reference to MAD Magazine anywhere in the book, but Alfred E. Neuman
looks great on the cover. Lasse O'Mansson (in a jacket and tie) and
Shakespeare also appear on the cover, which was illustrated by the
Swedish MAD's 1970's and 1980's principal cover artist, Mr. Torvald
Sundbaum. It appears that this book has been looked at just a few
times, and is in Excellent display condition, with a tiny corner
crease on the front cover.

#160 - MAD Magazine Softball Team Official Team T-Shirt
1970's RARE MB $300
Here's
something for the discriminating MAD Magazine memorabilia collector
who thought they owned everything, or maybe just someone who thinks
it's cool. Produced in the 1970's for the staff of MAD Magazine,
this item is an original game-used t-shirt from the MAD Magazine vs.
Screw Magazine softball game, held at New York City's Central Park
some time in the 1970's. There is zero information about this game
online, and the surviving people who either attended or participated
in this game have very vague memories of it. In any event, this
shirt comes with eleven (11) different b/w photos from the game.
These photos were developed from the original film negatives about
three years ago, so these photos are not vintage. In these photos,
however, you can see several members of the MAD staff, including Bill
and Annie Gaines, Jerry DeFuccio, Nick Meglin, Dave Frazier, Lou
Silverstone, and Lenny Brenner. A photo of the Screw team is also
included, whose members of which I can only recognize Al Goldstein.
This shirt was obviously worn several times after the game took
place, as it shows some small holes, some pit stains, and some "Ring
Around The Collar". This shirt has a tag measurement of an
Adult size Large, and there is nothing printed on the back. Although
it is not in pristine condition, it is solid and complete, and in
terrific display condition. You will be the envy of the MAD
collecting world with this shirt in your collection. You can bet on

some of the people involved in one of the greatest practical jokes
ever pulled on MAD Magazine founder, Bill Gaines. Long story short,
Gaines loved a scene in the Marx Brothers movie, A Night At The
Opera, so much that Dick DeBartolo re-created the scene in Bill
Gaines cabin on the ship. When all was said and done, there were
"about 150 people, including a couple with a crying baby"
crammed into Gaines' stateroom. Measuring approx. 11" by 14",
this color print copy is beautiful, and in Mint condition.

would see one is if it were placed on a First Printing book. "Not all First Printing Signet / MAD paperbacks had these stickers attached, as these were copies that were sent out to booksellers as complimentary for their reviews on the new books." A debt of gratitude goes out to MAD paperback collector, Mr. Jason Buer, for explaining the origins of this book, and others like it. This book is in Excellent display condition.

story on this poster, but I do know it is cool and very unique. It
is printed on pink, lightweight poster board, and measures approx. 8
3/4" by 10 1/2". It appears to have been taped onto a flat
surface at one time, and then taken down, as there is some paper loss

Issue 2004 MB $50
Here's
a super rare piece of MAD Magazine memorabilia. Published in 2004 by
E.C. Publications, this lot contains two (2) copies of MAD Magazine
#438. Both issues have the same content, page length......just about
everything. The only difference between these two issues is the
front cover. I hadn't been aware that this issue had a variant cover
until it was sent to me by a consignor. Just for kicks, I contacted
John Ficarra (who was the editor at the time) and asked him what the
reason was for the two covers. He replied, "If memory serves me
correctly, I wasn't wild about the first cover, too muddy and
confusing, trying to communicate too much. Zeroing in on a single

Original Art MB $20
Here's
a cool piece of Sergio Aragones original art. Produced by MAD
Magazine artist, Mr. Sergio Aragones, this is a piece of original art
that may have appeared as one of Mr. Aragones' MAD Marginals. The
reason I say "may have appeared" is that Mr. Aragones drew
1000's of cartoons like these, and it would take months to determine
whether or not this appeared in print. In any case, this strip
depicts a golfer whiffing his shot, dreaming the ball went into the
hole. This strip is not signed or dated, and it appears to have been
cut from a larger sheet of cartoons. It measures approx. 2" by
