Rock and pop stars have been a staple of the Mad cover diet over the years with noticeably more appearances happening in recent years. The first cover to feature a rock star was way back in 1958 with an Elvis sighting on issue #39 and much later on #420. Since then the likes of The Beatles (#121 and #420), Bruce Springsteen(#270 and #420), David Crosby(#401), The New Kids on the Block(#301), The Spice Girls(#363) and Elton John(#413 and #420) have been featured. Madonna was featured three times (#304, #349, and #420). Eminem appeared on four covers (#401, #406, #413 and #420).
